What is an Open Audition?
When actors sit together and say their lines aloud from start to finish.
What is a Read Through?
The second round of auditions, narrowing down the actors that will be cast.
What is a callback?
For only professional/union actors or specific group of people that meet the director's requirements.

Meant to stage the actors' body positions and physicality scene by scene.
What are blocking rehearsals?
When all actors and tech are supposed to show up and prepare for the performance.
What is call time?
no actors present, lighting is set up, “cue-to-cue” done to ensure all sound and light cues are properly set up.
What is dry tech?
When you practice and memorize a monologue or two contrasting monologues for your audition that matches the tone of the show/character you are trying out for.
What is a prepared audition?
After blocking is finished, actors will practice the entire show without stopping, even when mistakes occur.
What is a run-through?
The cast gathers downstage and bow at the end of the performance and receive applause.

When the actor only receives their audition material/texts at the actual audition, given only a few minutes to practice it.
What is a cold reading?
Meant to troubleshoot and focus on areas that need to be reworked or polished up.

When the curtains open and the show officially starts.

Occurs the day before or a couple days before the opening night performance.

When the director provides actors with parts from the script that they can rehearse days to weeks ahead of time.
