The old shack sat at the end of the dirt road. The doors were wide open, sagging from their hinges. The soft blue paint was pealing off the rough wooden boards of the walls.

Although convenient, plastic straws are deadly to many marine animals, especially turtles and dolphins, which mistake the colorful plastic for food. You may not realize it at the moment, but when you choose to use a plastic straw you are putting animals in danger. Next time you’re at McDonalds and go to grab a straw, think to yourself, “is this what the turtles would want?”

Friday is the best time of the entire week. When you get out of school and finally get home it feels amazing, you can do whatever you want, like playing games with friends, or watching your favorite show, and then go to bed late. Also, Friday evenings are the perfect time to hangout with friends or do sleep overs.

In July 1940, just weeks after the German conquest of France and the Low Countries, Hitler decided to attack the Soviet Union within the following year. On December 18, 1940, he ordered the invasion of the Soviet Union. It wasn’t until June 22nd, 1941 that the invasion finally began, with three German army groups attacking across a broad front.

Summers are just not all they’re cracked up to be. While kids love summers, their brains do not. A recent study found that the average student lost 17–34% of the prior year’s learning gains during summer break, as well as that students who lose ground in one summer are more likely to also lose ground in subsequent summers. Is having an extended summer break really worth students losing so much of the knowledge they worked so hard to gain during the school year?

Yes, plastic bags are useful, but experts say they are wreaking havoc on the environment. Already, cities like San Francisco and Washington, D.C., have placed restrictions on the use of plastic bags. Banning the use across all states would greatly improve the lives of all marine creatures and save the government millions of dollars in clean up projects.

Plastic bags should be banned

Cats are generally well suited for apartments. Compared to dogs, cats require less space and can take better advantage of vertical space. Most dogs, on the other hand, need a lot of space to play and roam. While both dogs and cats enjoy large living areas, it is clear that cats can do without.

Denis Pope, a senior lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, stated, “We found a clear connection between the students’ stress and physical impacts – migraines, ulcers and other stomach problems, sleep deprivation and exhaustion, and weight loss.” Homework is very damaging to a child’s overall health and well-being.

I am a parent, and I struggle daily with making sure my daughter does her homework. Here, however, I'd like to speak as a teacher rather than a parent. I'd like to explain why, in my professional opinion, American kids need homework. Schoolwork prepares students for work-related tasks, which will help them become a successful adult.

Only brush the teeth you don't want to fall out! Brushing and flossing every day is the most important hygiene routine for teenagers. This is because between the ages of 12-18 your jaw shifts an incredible amount, and if you do not take care of your teeth during this period then they can become damaged for a life time.

Teenagers should brush and floss everyday

Cats can even play a part in lowering your blood pressure and risk of a heart attack. One 10-year study has even shown that cat owners were 30% less likely to die of a heart attack or stroke than non-cat owners. If you plan on living a long life, then buying a cat is the right choice for you.

Play has always been an essential part of childhood, but it looks different for modern children, who increasingly engage in virtual play. More than 90% of children older than 2 years play video games, and three-quarters of American households own a video game console. Children 8 to 17 years of age spend an average of 1.5 to 2 hours daily playing video games.

Are you sick of homework? Homework has been given for centuries, but can have huge negative impacts on students. New research shows that some students are doing more than three hours of homework a night – and all that school work may be literally making them sick. By taking away from their childhood and putting kids under unneeded pressure, giving homework is an ineffective way to help children become better learners and thinkers.
