60! Each class you are taking is worth 5 credits per semester when you earn a "D" or higher.

5 credits x 6 classes = 30 credits for semester one

5 credits x 5 classes = 30 credits for semester two

30 credits x 2 semesters = 60 credits for the year

Yes! Health is only a high school graduation requirement, NOT an A-G requirement; however, the "D" would negatively impact the student's overall GPA.

What is the Opportunity Program on campus?

The Opportunity Program is for sophomores who failed multiple classes in their freshman year and who need to make up credits. Students will work on the computer in Mr. Butterfield's classroom for 4 of their 6 classes in order to make up their missing credits.

What will happen if a student is 16 years old and is behind 20-30 credits? 

This student will be sent to OSC (On-Site Continuation) where they will work on the computer to make up missing credits. Students will no longer be able to participate in sports or attend school activities. Students in OSC are only allowed to be in the OSC classroom and attend school in the morning or afternoon for three hours per day.

True or False: AVHS students are able to take college classes as well as enroll in additional high school classes online?

True! 

Mr. Cincis, Dr. Haggard, and Mr. Tijani are all AVC Bridge Counselors and can help AVHS students either take a college course while in high school or help you apply to AVC once you graduate!
