What is a Notice of Award?
According to U.S. federal law, a committed that must be established by institutions that use lab animals for research or instructional purposes to oversee and evaluate all aspects of the institution's animal care and use program.
What is Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee - IACUC?
A type of financial assistance awarded for the conduct of research and no substantial programmatic involvement with the recipient during the performance of the activities.
What is a Grant?
The metric for expressing the effort (amount of time) PD/PI(s), faculty and other senior/key personnel devote to a specific project.
What are Person Months?

Other support, certificate of IRB approval, evidence of compliance with education in the protection of human subjects,verification of IACUC approval of proposed use of vertebrate animals.
What are possible items that could requested during Just-In-Time?
Provide post-award accounting and administration for research grants and sponsored agreements; establish processes to ensure the financial management of sponsored awards operate within the regulatory and financial guidelines appropriate to each award.
What is the Grants and Contracts Accounting (GCA) office?
The detailed statement outlining estimated project costs to support work under a grant or contract.
What is a Budget?
Ensures that animals used in research, for exhibition, or as pets receive humane care & treatment; regulates transport, purchase, sale, housing, care, handling and treatment of such animals.
What is the Animal Welfare Act?
The organization that funds a research project.
Who is the Sponsor?
Include project details such as: Project number, PI on project, role on project, source, project title, major goals, project dates, annual direct cost, and person months effort.
What is the Other Support document?
MDACC's current, standard Facilities & Administrative Costs (F & A) rate.
What is 62%?
The individual who takes direct responsibility for completion of a funded project, directing the research and reporting to the funding agency.
Who is the Principal Investigator - P.I.?

What is a Protocol?
Describes existence of a research opportunity. It may describe new or expanded interest in a particular extramural program or be a reminder of a continuing interest in an extramural program.
What is a Program Announcement?
NIH policy allows the submission of certain elements of a competing application to be deferred until later in the application process, after review when the application is under consideration for funding.
What is Just-in-Time?
Responsible for supporting activities relating to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Radiation Safety Committee (RSC), Conflict of Interest Committee (COIC), Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) compliance, etc; Also handles internal funding mechanisms.
