How long should you pair at the start of the session?
15 minutes MINIMUM
What is permanent product?
Something left behind after a behavior that allows you to have proof that it occurred.
Ex. a kid does worksheet in the morning and puts it in their folder, a week later the consultant checks the folder and can see how they did on the worksheet
Ex 2. The sharpie on the wall in little's classroom
A parent asks you a question about a client's program, what do you do?
Direct them to their consultant.
When in doubt, BCBA it out
You have a really rough session and don't have time to write your note, what do you do?
Fill out the date, times, nap time, and your name at LEAST! This alone saves Katie so much work!
Tip: Ask other RBTs for help! We are a team and other RBTs can write this information if you tell them what it is while you run the BSP!
How far should your kiddos AAC be if they carry it?
What about it you wear it?
Arms reach
Still arms reach as YOU should be within arms reach
When does pairing stop?
NEVER!!! You should always be pairing, even while you write your note you can provide positive statements, verbal praise, and narration!
What is IRT?
Inter-response time, it is the time between 2 behaviors.
Ex. So a kid gives you a high five, 3 minutes later he gives you another high-five the IRT is 3 minutes
Your client just engaged in a challenging behavior and a fellow RBT is asking what just happened, what do you do? What if it's leadership?
RBT: They don't need to know unless on the kid's team, but if your going to tell them anyway do it away from all clients so that you are maintaining client Dignity.
Leadership: Tell them but still away from the client, and other RBTs as well, if they are while the client is still in a behavior, use the communication notebook to write it down and show them
What is your supervision requirement?
5%
In error correction how many data points will you have(typically)
2, one for the initial response, and one for the response after the distractor is presented. (occasionally you will have more if the client error's once more) Kaya is more than happy to go over error correction with you at any time! :)
Your client wants to play a board and you REALLY do not want to play what do you do?
You always want to follow your client's motivation, however your comfort is still important so you may always feel free to request a break from peers or leadership. You may also suggest other options to the kiddo but you must follow through with what they originally ask for if they don't find anything else more fun
What are the different types of chaining? Describe them.
Forward Chaining: Teaching the first step first
Backward Chaining: Teaching the last step first
Total Task: Teach the whole thing all at once
You are out in public and you notice one of your client's is in a challenging behavior with their parents, what do you do?
Walk away and ignore it, you are not receiving supervision and are not qualified in that moment to assist.
What do you do if you are graphing and you notice that a chart is missing?
Let the client's lead know! (please write it on a sticky note and put it on their desk!) Please don't go to the consultant's as this is mostly the leads job and they are extremely busy! :)
What is a behavior? I want multiple examples
A behavior is any action that a dead man can NOT do:
ex. screaming, walking, running, smiling, doing worksheets, playing, talking, crying, throwing items, SIBs, flopping, etc.
Your client is showing no motivation during your session what do you do?
Contrive it! Find items they have recently been motivated for and offer them to the client, demonstrate new ways to play with old toys, suggest toys they don't usually play with, make things look super fun, be creative!
What are the continuous measurements of data? Describe them
Frequency: how much many times something occurs
Latency: time between the SD and response
Rate: How often something happens in a given time (Frequency over duration) ex. 2 times in 3 minutes
IRT: time between behaviors
Your client has a reinforcement board (ex. fish, Bluey hearts, stars, etc.) that they gain items on for good behaviors. Your client was aggressive and hit a peer in the face, you saw his consultant remove an item from his board when doing this is the past. What do you do?
You follow the written BSP. If the response cost is not written in you do NOT remove an item. The consultant was most likely testing this so you do NOT do this as well. Sometimes leadership will test various things when assisting with chall Bx.
You are running lunches and you get to a lunch a few minutes late, you were suppose to arrive at 12:00 but arrive at 12:03 instead, the previous RBT wrote 12:00 as their end time, what should you do?
Replace their time with 12:03 and start your note at 12:03. You were just with a client so you are unable to bill for two kids at once and they won't get back to you until 12:33 (at least) which is when you will end your note.
What are the preference assessments? Describe them.
Free operant: client has access to all reinforcers, RBT records amount of time client engaged with each and ranks them
Forced choice/paired stimulus: 2 items presented at once, client choices one, a hierarchy is made by comparing all combos
Multiple stimulus w/ replacement: 3 or more items in an array, client selects item, after the trial the chosen item is packed back into the arry
Multiple stimulus w/o replacement: array of 3 or more, chosen item is removed from the array with the next trial
Single Stimulus: One item presented at a time, the client's reaction to each is recorded
You have these four items: a figurine, a small rectangle wooden block, a plastic stick, a construction helmet, what could you do to make these items fun for the client with ONLY these items? Be creative!
examples:
1.) Using the helmet as a big wave, the block as a surf board and have the figurine surf
2.) Flip over the helmet to use as a skate park, and do what you did above as a skateboard
3.) Use the helmet as a rock to hide under from the stick monster
4.) Use the stick as a wand
5.) Use the stick as a tightrope for the figurine
What are the discontinuous measurements of data? Describe them
Partial interval: Occurs anytime within a set interval (ex. a kiddo cries for 20 seconds during a 2 minutes interval)
Whole interval: Occurs the entire interval (ex. a kiddo screams an entire 2 minutes)
Momentary time sampling: Occurs at a specific set moment (ex. you look up every 2 minutes to see if the class is sitting in their chairs)
A client engaged in a Bx and left a mark on your arm, how do you explain your wound to your coworkers? What about your family?
(coworkers) You may explain the mark in private away from all other client's. It goes against client Dignity to discuss this otherwise.
(Family) "Oh I got this at work" always remember HIPPA
If a client is here for 7 hours 30 minutes but they napped for 1 hour and 5 minutes what timing floor would you use?
The 6 hour timing floor
What are the 3 types of differential reinforcement? Describe each
DRO: Others (ex. reinforcing everything except hitting)
DRI: Incompatible (ex. reinforcing clapping instead of hitting)
DRA: Alternative ex. (Reinforcing tapping your shoulder instead of hitting)
