Steps for taking residents to off-sites activity/transport or outings are...
Step 1- Notify Clinical and Case Management anytime a minor will be taken off campus CL and CM need to be aware prior it.
All off campus locations must be pre-approved by the PD or designee prior taking minors to the location.
Step 2- Confirm all central briefs are taken on the outing. Assign staff who is familiar with the building the minors are transported to. Know the emergency exits of the building, walking distance from the vehicle to the main entrance. Ensure the doors (child lock) and windows are secured.
Escort the minors from the facility to the company vehicle with additional staff is required.
Ensure the gate is closed prior to the minors being escorted outdoors.
Staff are to be seated near the exit of the vehicle.
Minors must have the seat belt.
Shift Leader confirm staff are seated are correctly.
Once they arrived at the location, SL must be notified.

The last resort. Personnel will take preventative measures when recognizing anxious behaviors, triggers (use de-escalation techniques). If this is ineffective:
1- call Team for assistance
2- severity and likelihood of harm or risk will be assessed to determine the need for a physical intervention
3- remove any trigger, identify a personnel with developed rapport
4- Personnel applying physical intervention must monitor the resident's breathing and other signs of physical distress to ensure overall wellbeing
5- Permit the resident suggest actions the personnel can take to help diffuse the crisis
6- Must release the resident as soon as the resident's behavior is no longer a danger to self or others (no longer than 5 minutes)
7- After release resident will be seen/monitored by the medical and clinical department
