Recording Lifecycle
A complete, unmodified, unvalidated audio recording of a conversation. Test clips are derived from these after they are validated and modified.
What is a Raw Recording?
The human or artificial entity that participates in a conversation with a volunteer.
What is a Confederate?
A feature of a person, conversation, language, or audio that is captured in metadata and that may affect the complexity of a test clip or the quality of the captions produced by it. Use for Attribute, Characteristic.

A raw recording that has completed the validation process and is approved for use. These may be modified and used to create test clips.
What is a Validated Recording?
The purpose for which a conversation took place or the type of interaction that occurred (e.g., filling a prescription or calling customer service). These are often related to the domain of a conversation.

Access channel
A validated recording that has undergone modification, such as the addition of artificial audio properties, but has not yet been trimmed to form a test clip or clips.
What is a Modified Recording?
A person who has given consent to being recorded.

What is Topic?
A validated recording that is derived from a raw recording and ready to be used in an IP CTS test call. These may have undergone modification such as the addition of artificial audio properties and are trimmed to the desired length.
What is Test Clip?
An umbrella term for all audio recordings in the audio sample library, including raw recordings, validated recordings, modified recordings, and test clips.
