Where do you line up when the bell rings?

Along our windows, outside our classroom

100

Where can you sit?

Only at your own place right now :( Hopefully later in the year we will be able to move around and choose places where we work best like the floor, hall or at a friend's desk.

100

How do you get ready for gym?

Make sure you have indoor shoes, wait at your place until you are called to line up, respect other classes learning as we walk to the gym.

100

Who are you responsible for?

YOURSELF!

100

When can you take off your mask?

At lunch, outside, Put it in your grey bin on your way out the door for recess.

200

When should you begin to line up?

At the first bell (warning bell)

200
Where can you keep your personal belongings and books?

In your bin, in your coatroom bin, in your backpack. We are not storing things on the back counter, on the floor, or on the benches in the coatroom :)

200

What if I am missing a supply?

Ask, we will find it. Don't stress, don't wait until the end of the lesson. Let me know and we will work it out.

200

How will you demonstrate responsibility with your work?

Trying your best, using your time wisely, asking for help when you need it, learning from mistakes, respecting others' learning.

200

What if you don't like where you are sitting or you are struggling to get along with your desk partner?

Try to work it out, ask for a conference with Miss Boyd, ask to speak to an adult at recess, leave Miss Boyd a note in your journal or on my desk. Everyone has the right to learn and feel good in the classroom.

300

What equipment can you take outside?

The things from our bag in the coatroom - but if you take it out YOU are responsible for bringing it in.

300

When can you use the washroom? What is the procedure?

Whenever you need to. We are going to try and not go during lessons or immediately after breaks, but you need to listen to your body. You need to ask an adult in the room and make sure to wash your hands with soap.

300

How do you know what is happening?

Check the agenda board. Ask an adult. We will start every day (starting tomorrow) with a journal and start every math class with bell work. You will get used to your new routine.

300

How can you demonstrate responsibility on the yard?

Be a leader, walk away from problems, include people, listen to yard staff (even if you don't agree with them)

300
What if you are having problems at school, are struggling with something or someone?

Ask to speak to an adult, ask for a conference with Miss Boyd, leave a note in your journal or on my desk.

400

Who can you play with outside?

Anyone on our yard! There will be lots of classes outside at the same time this year. It is important to remember to be a leader!

400

What do you do if you don't know how to do something, if you have a question, if you feel confused or if you have an idea or a thought to share?

Raise your hand, wait your turn, listen respectfully to your classmates. Everyone's ideas are important and valid in our room.

400

How is grade 6 different than grade 5?

You will have more responsibility, you are the oldest so everyone looks up to you

400

How can you demonstrate respect in the school community?

Listen to staff, speak respectfully, politely question what you don't understand or agree with.

400

What about hats? Gum? Music?

Hats are always allowed but need to come off for O'Canada and moment of silence. Gum is fine with me if it ends up in the garbage. Gum is not allowed in the gym, library or on the yard. Music is something we can discuss as we move forward. It helps lots of people concentrate and we will move towards being able to use it in class.

500

When there is a problem on the yard, what can you do?

- walk away

- work it out

- talk to a yard teacher

- talk to Miss Boyd when you come inside

500

When can you eat?

When you are hungry! You should try and wait until break times, but a hungry body can't learn. If you are eating outside of break times it needs to be a healthy and non-messy choice.

500

Where can you sit at lunchtime?

Only in your seat right now. You need to keep your chair facing the front.

500

How can you be responsible in the classroom?

We will be applying for classroom jobs soon. You will get "paid" in "Boyd bucks" which you can use for some fun prizes. More about that next week

500

Can you use your cellphone in school?

Cell phones need to stay in your bags unless I ask you to use them in class or you ask me to use them for something like Kahoot, research or in class use. You may NOT use them at lunchtime, on the yard or in the classroom for social media, to text home to ask to be picked up or to text other students. Ms. Lamond has been VERY clear about this. If you are unable to do this we will have to collect them each morning and give them back at home time. If Ms. Lamond catches you with a cell phone on the yard she will take it.
