How soon after I take a referral from my FRA, do I have to contact the potential client?
Once you accept the referral you have 3 business DAYS to reach out to the client.
*Please be mindful of accepting referrals on Fridays, or right before school breaks or PTO.*
An 16 year old discloses current sexual abuse by her 18 year old boyfriend and begs you not to call CPS due to fears of her boyfriend getting in trouble.
-Ethically you have to report it to CPS. You can also create a safety plan, and help identify safe people the client can connect with.
-Also connected with client to target safe relationships with people her own age.
My FRA keeps giving you bad referrals. What can you do?
-continue to educate them why you can't accept the referrals and assert the type of clients CHS can accept
-check in with a school coordinator to brainstorm ideas (or the school coordinator will reach out to the coordinator and do updated training)
-ask if you can be included in the newsletter/send out a flyer
-connect with other staff to see if they'll help you recruit
-network with other staff to make connections/make yourself known
