Yes it is, so long as you don't push off or extend your arm you're allowed to.

You and your defender are going deep, a floaty throw goes up and you two are jostling for position. You are about to jump but as you're going up, your defender is already going up and extends their arm down in their motion preventing you from going up to make a play. What is the call? What happens if they contest?
Foul, If you are prevented from making a play on the disc by someone else it is a foul. If contested, the throw goes back to the thrower.
You are on defense, you and another player are going after a disc and you accidentally trip the other player, causing them to fall over and not catch the disc. Is there a call here?

You and your defender are both running after a huck. You get there first and jump straight up to catch the disc, your defender also jumps up to make a play at the disc but in the process bumps into you which causes you to drop the disc. Is this a foul? If so, on who and why?
Yes it is a foul, it is a foul on the defender. You got to the position first and jumped straight up giving you the right to that space, your defender came into that space and contacted you which prevented you from catching the disc so boom foul.
