Marching
This is a marching style, which knees cannot bend. The Newnan Marching Cats did this marching style from my sophmore year through to junior year, and maybe next year too. We did not do this style my freshman year.
What is the straight leg techique?
This instrument has 3 valves and is in the key of Bb.
What is a trumpet?
It was this past year's show performed by the Newnan Marching Cats. It is themed off of sunglasses.
What is "Shady"?
This competition is held at Newnan High School every year on the first Saturday of November. The Newnan Marching Cats (especially the staff) work very hard all month to prepare for this very special day.
What is the Old Southeastern Invitational/ Old South?
It is a hat that goes on your head, some bands put a giant feather called a "plume." It tops the whole uniform off in a spectacular way.
What is a shako?
This reed instrument is extremely common among Jazz music.
What is a Saxophone?
This was last year's show, its theme was running a marathon. It was sponsored by Adidas and had Adidas uniforms. It was also Dr Boyd's last marching band show as Newnan's band director before he retired.
What is "The Distance"?
This band competition is hosted by Central Carroll High School in Carrollton, Ga. It was the Newnan Marching Cats' 1st competition this past season.
What is "The Superbowl of Sound"?
This is the name of the Christmas tree displayed in the band room at Christmas time.

Marching style from the Nirvana Jazz Project. You have to bend your knees. We did not do this technique my sophmore or junior year.
