What is the Sonde Assembly?

What is the iStar Battery?
This component serves as a temporary 15vDC power supply for periods where the pumps are off.
What is the Pumps off Power module (POP)?
This is called the SPI and it is another method used within BaseStar to interface various sensors and memory devices.
What is Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI)?
The BaseStar tool can also receive power from this component on surface.
What is SWRO?
This component provides static pumps off surveys and High Frequency periodic burst data in recorded memory. It also determines the orientation of the drillstring.
What is the directional module?
This is the legacy process of buffering data into a central location downhole, so it can be read at high speed on the surface.
What is Downhole Data Transfer (DHDT)?
This main power output powers the PLC PCB and everything in the Sonde Assembly ( NAS, DM, PWD, WOB/TOB, POP charging...)
What is 15VDC?
This component senses pressure changes in the wellbore.
What is the PWD module?
This allows multiple electronic devices to communicate with each other over a single bus.
One line is used as a serial clock line (SCL).
What is Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) Bus?
Battery consumption is tracked using this application vs manually calculating as it was with legacy tools.
What is iTom?
This part of the Basestar tool houses the Flow diverter, scribe line, SWRO, WOB/TOB Puck, Caliper/Imager, Pressure Sleeve, Gamma module, spacer ring, and locking sub.
What is the sensor collar?
This is the communication protocol and is very loosely based on MIL-STD-1553. It sends real-time data from other sensors on the PLC Bus back to the PLC/NAS in preparation for transmission.
What is Sperry Manchester 1553?
These are the type of cells used in the iStar Battery collar to maximize available energy.
