Noah
Scripture: Genesis 6:13-22-
o God said to Noah, âI have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!
14 âBuild a large boat[c] from cypress wood[d] and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15 Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.[e] 16 Leave an 18-inch opening[f] below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boatâlower, middle, and upper.
17 âLook! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. 18 But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boatâyou and your wife and your sons and their wives. 19 Bring a pair of every kind of animalâa male and a femaleâinto the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. 20 Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. 21 And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals.â
22 So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.

Acts
Acts 1:1-8
1 In my first book[a] I told you, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began to do and teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit. 3 During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.
4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, âDo not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before.5 John baptized with[b] water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.â
The Ascension of Jesus
6 So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, âLord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?â
7 He replied, âThe Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhereâin Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.â

Wedding
John 2:1-11
The Wedding at Cana
2 The next day[a] there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesusâ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. 3 The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesusâ mother told him, âThey have no more wine.â
4 âDear woman, thatâs not our problem,â Jesus replied. âMy time has not yet come.â
5 But his mother told the servants, âDo whatever he tells you.â
6 Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons.[b] 7 Jesus told the servants, âFill the jars with water.â When the jars had been filled, 8 he said, âNow dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.â So the servants followed his instructions.
9 When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. 10 âA host always serves the best wine first,â he said. âThen, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!â

Philemon
Philemon 1:1-21
Greetings from Paul
1 This letter is from Paul, a prisoner for preaching the Good News about Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy.
I am writing to Philemon, our beloved co-worker, 2 and to our sister Apphia, and to our fellow soldier Archippus, and to the church that meets in your[a] house.
3 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
Paulâs Thanksgiving and Prayer
4 I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon, 5 because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of Godâs people. 6 And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.7 Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of Godâs people.
Paulâs Appeal for Onesimus
8 That is why I am boldly asking a favor of you. I could demand it in the name of Christ because it is the right thing for you to do. 9 But because of our love, I prefer simply to ask you. Consider this as a request from meâPaul, an old man and now also a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus.[b]
10 I appeal to you to show kindness to my child, Onesimus. I became his father in the faith while here in prison. 11 Onesimus[c] hasnât been of much use to you in the past, but now he is very useful to both of us. 12 I am sending him back to you, and with him comes my own heart.
13 I wanted to keep him here with me while I am in these chains for preaching the Good News, and he would have helped me on your behalf. 14 But I didnât want to do anything without your consent. I wanted you to help because you were willing, not because you were forced. 15 It seems you lost Onesimus for a little while so that you could have him back forever. 16 He is no longer like a slave to you. He is more than a slave, for he is a beloved brother, especially to me. Now he will mean much more to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.
17 So if you consider me your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.18 If he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge it to me. 19 I, PAUL, WRITE THIS WITH MY OWN HAND: I WILL REPAY IT. AND I WONâT MENTION THAT YOU OWE ME YOUR VERY SOUL!
20 Yes, my brother, please do me this favor[d] for the Lordâs sake. Give me this encouragement in Christ.
21 I am confident as I write this letter that you will do what I ask and even more!

Peter
Luke 22:54-62
54 So they arrested him and led him to the high priestâs home. And Peter followed at a distance. 55 The guards lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter joined them there. 56 A servant girl noticed him in the firelight and began staring at him. Finally she said, âThis man was one of Jesusâ followers!â
57 But Peter denied it. âWoman,â he said, âI donât even know him!â
58 After a while someone else looked at him and said, âYou must be one of them!â
âNo, man, Iâm not!â Peter retorted.
59 About an hour later someone else insisted, âThis must be one of them, because he is a Galilean, too.â
60 But Peter said, âMan, I donât know what you are talking about.â And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.
61 At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lordâs words flashed through Peterâs mind: âBefore the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.â 62 And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.
Joshua and Israel marched around this city before its walls fell.
Jericho
Joshua 6:1-20
6 Now the gates of Jericho were tightly shut because the people were afraid of the Israelites. No one was allowed to go out or in. 2 But the Lord said to Joshua, âI have given you Jericho, its king, and all its strong warriors. 3 You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for six days. 4 Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ramâs horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. 5 When you hear the priests give one long blast on the ramsâ horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town.â
6 So Joshua called together the priests and said, âTake up the Ark of the Lordâs Covenant, and assign seven priests to walk in front of it, each carrying a ramâs horn.â 7 Then he gave orders to the people: âMarch around the town, and the armed men will lead the way in front of the Ark of the Lord.â
8 After Joshua spoke to the people, the seven priests with the ramsâ horns started marching in the presence of the Lord, blowing the horns as they marched. And the Ark of the Lordâs Covenant followed behind them. 9 Some of the armed men marched in front of the priests with the horns and some behind the Ark, with the priests continually blowing the horns. 10 âDo not shout; do not even talk,â Joshua commanded. âNot a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout. Then shout!â 11 So the Ark of the Lord was carried around the town once that day, and then everyone returned to spend the night in the camp.
12 Joshua got up early the next morning, and the priests again carried the Ark of the Lord. 13 The seven priests with the ramsâ horns marched in front of the Ark of the Lord, blowing their horns. Again the armed men marched both in front of the priests with the horns and behind the Ark of the Lord. All this time the priests were blowing their horns. 14 On the second day they again marched around the town once and returned to the camp. They followed this pattern for six days.
15 On the seventh day the Israelites got up at dawn and marched around the town as they had done before. But this time they went around the town seven times. 16 The seventh time around, as the priests sounded the long blast on their horns, Joshua commanded the people, âShout! For the Lord has given you the town! 17 Jericho and everything in it must be completely destroyed[a] as an offering to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and the others in her house will be spared, for she protected our spies.
18 âDo not take any of the things set apart for destruction, or you yourselves will be completely destroyed, and you will bring trouble on the camp of Israel.19 Everything made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron is sacred to the Lord and must be brought into his treasury.â
20 When the people heard the sound of the ramsâ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.

Five loaves and two fish
Matthew 14:13-21
Jesus Feeds Five Thousand
13 As soon as Jesus heard the news, he left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed on foot from many towns. 14 Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 That evening the disciples came to him and said, âThis is a remote place, and itâs already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.â
16 But Jesus said, âThat isnât necessaryâyou feed them.â
17 âBut we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!â they answered.
18 âBring them here,â he said. 19 Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. 20 They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers.21 About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!
The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples dramatically at this feast.

God Called this young boy by name while he was serving in the temple under Eli
Samuel
1 Samuel 3:1-10
3 Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the Lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the Lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon.
2 One night Eli, who was almost blind by now, had gone to bed. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle[a] near the Ark of God. 4 Suddenly the Lord called out, âSamuel!â
âYes?â Samuel replied. âWhat is it?â 5 He got up and ran to Eli. âHere I am. Did you call me?â
âI didnât call you,â Eli replied. âGo back to bed.â So he did.
6 Then the Lord called out again, âSamuel!â
Again Samuel got up and went to Eli. âHere I am. Did you call me?â
âI didnât call you, my son,â Eli said. âGo back to bed.â
7 Samuel did not yet know the Lord because he had never had a message from the Lord before. 8 So the Lord called a third time, and once more Samuel got up and went to Eli. âHere I am. Did you call me?â
Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. 9 So he said to Samuel, âGo and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, âSpeak, Lord, your servant is listening.ââ So Samuel went back to bed.
10 And the Lord came and called as before, âSamuel! Samuel!â
And Samuel replied, âSpeak, your servant is listening.â
This prophet challenged the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel.
Elijah
1 King 18:20-39
20 So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel. 21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, âHow much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!â But the people were completely silent.
22 Then Elijah said to them, âI am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets. 23 Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. 24 Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!â And all the people agreed.
25 Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, âYou go first, for there are many of you. Choose one of the bulls, and prepare it and call on the name of your god. But do not set fire to the wood.â
26 So they prepared one of the bulls and placed it on the altar. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting, âO Baal, answer us!â But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made.
27 About noontime Elijah began mocking them. âYouâll have to shout louder,â he scoffed, âfor surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself.[a] Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!â
28 So they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with knives and swords until the blood gushed out. 29 They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response.
30 Then Elijah called to the people, âCome over here!â They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down. 31 He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel,[b] 32 and he used the stones to rebuild the altar in the name of the Lord. Then he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold about three gallons.[c] 33 He piled wood on the altar, cut the bull into pieces, and laid the pieces on the wood.[d]
Then he said, âFill four large jars with water, and pour the water over the offering and the wood.â
34 After they had done this, he said, âDo the same thing again!â And when they were finished, he said, âNow do it a third time!â So they did as he said, 35 and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench.
36 At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, âO Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,[e] prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. 37 O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.â
38 Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, âThe Lordâhe is God! Yes, the Lord is God!â

But Martha, the dead manâs sister, protested, âLord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.â
40 Jesus responded, âDidnât I tell you that you would see Godâs glory if you believe?â 41 So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, âFather, thank you for hearing me. 42 You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.â 43 Then Jesus shouted, âLazarus, come out!â 44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, âUnwrap him and let him go!â

Acts 9:1-19
Saulâs Conversion
9 Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lordâs followers.[a] So he went to the high priest. 2 He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring themâboth men and womenâback to Jerusalem in chains.
3 As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, âSaul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?â
5 âWho are you, lord?â Saul asked.
And the voice replied, âI am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! 6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.â
7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someoneâs voice but saw no one! 8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. 9 He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink.
10 Now there was a believer[b] in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, âAnanias!â
âYes, Lord!â he replied.
11 The Lord said, âGo over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now.12 I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.â
13 âBut Lord,â exclaimed Ananias, âIâve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers[c] in Jerusalem! 14 And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.â
15 But the Lord said, âGo, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. 16 And I will show him how much he must suffer for my nameâs sake.â
17 So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, âBrother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.â 18 Instantly something like scales fell from Saulâs eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized. 19 Afterward he ate some food and regained his strength.
