They didn't want to do it during the feast day because the public wouldn't have liked that, so they waited and then accepted Judas's offer and paid him.
If Jesus knew that Judas would steal from the treasury bag, and that he would betray Jesus, why would he allow Judas to become an apostle and hold a special role within the apostles?
