How can we think of Bloody Sunday as an important symbol? 

Like the Storming of the Bastille, Bloody Sunday demonstrates how the desires of the people can sometimes be brutally stopped by government. 

It also shows how an unprepared government can respond in a moment of panic to an organized force. 

Violence might equal chaos and uncertainy with peace equalling organization and resoluteness.
