Explain one way you can you fix your spacing.

- Change your gait in small amounts, multiple times if needed.

- wiggle or curve corners ONLY in small amounts, as a last resort

- change horseshoes

100

Explain the difference between the "gait" and "pick" affixes.

Gait indicates that you do the move in that gait, then return to your original gait. Pick indicates that you use the gait for that move, then keep using it afterwards.

100

How many curl divisions are there?

Eight.

100

What is the definition of halt in place?

All riders halt immediately on "go" and should keep spacing-sized gaps in between them and the people in front of & behind them.

100

What is one of the resources you can use to learn the SDM?

- scheduled lessons

- private lessons

- the website

- ask questions

200

Explain one of the things we mean by "look to the leader"

- the leader = the commander

- know the name of your line leader

- follow the leader

- base your own riding off what the leader is doing

- perform commander specifications

200

When do we use the affixes "in" and "out"?

During circles, or when there are multiple lines.

200

What pivot shares the same angle as a comb?

Quarter pivot.

200

What type of distribution is used in the move Froggy?

Froggy is distributed by "go."

200

What is the difference between staggered and straight-across alignment?

In straight-across, riders are straight across from each other. In staggered, riders are not; they are directly in between two other people.

300

What is proper comb alignment?

One horse (NTT) above of all the other riders/at least the line leader.
300

What are the four types of distributions?

Gait, "go", direction, and move.

300

What are the two types of curl divisions?

Straight and slanted.

300

What do the "up" and "down" affixes mean when we talk about halt formations?

They can be used for dra halt, triangle halt, honeycomb halt, and crescent halt. "Up" means that the riders should be above the leader, and "down" means they should be below.

300
If you're early or late on your timing, what can you do to fix it?

Nothing, just recognize it and try to be correct next time!

400

Why would you put a "." in chat?

To indicate you're stopping to type something.

400

What does "buddy" mean?

Buddy is a position where there are two lines that have split but are moving close to one another as one unit.

We usually enter buddy by doing a tier or waterfall.

400

What distinguishes curl divisions from pivots?

Curl divisions are done while moving (forward), pivots are just spinning in place.

400
What type of moves are split and merge?

Distinct; developments mainly by splitness but also potentially by location, shape, and even gait if the commander uses other affixes/description.

400

What are label patterns?

Patterns of A and B that we use with distributions.

- normal:ABABAB

- double: ABABAB into two lines that have already split

- pair: AABB

- other: anything the commander specifies

500

Name all five types of primary lines.

Wall lines, centerline, midline, quarter lines, diagonals.

500

Name four beginner distinct moves that make use of dist (distribution) affixes.

any of: all halt formations, puzzle, froggy, roll call, waterfall, tier, split curls, over, partner comb.

500

What's one way you can use your camera angle to help you perform curl divisions/pivots?

(i'll judge, about anything goes, but this is what we recommend:)

turn your camera angle to the ending angle of the move so that when you're finished you'll be going forward according to your screen.

500
What is the difference between Distinct moves and individual moves?

Distinct moves have a name and definition you have to memorize based on theory concepts and individual moves. Individual moves are more simple and we just command them based off how they're listed in the dictionary.

500

What is one thing to keep in mind while fixing mistakes?

- listen to commander specification

- ask questions

- don't freak out

- look at what the other riders/leader are doing

- try to get back in line quickly

- figure out what you did wrong and try to not make the same mistake in the future.
