What needs to be on every paper your turn in?
Your name!
When should you be out of your seat?
You should not be up wandering the room just for fun. You should have a purpose and it should be at the appropriate times!
How do we sit safely in our chairs?
Seat to seat, Back to back, and 4 on the floor
What do we do when we line up?
Walk to the line, give the person in front of you space, be at a 1 voice level. This is in the classroom, in MAPeS, in the lunch room, at recess, any time your in a line!
Do we sharpen pencils during class?
NO!
What do we do if we finish early?
Most of the time Ms. Dean will put it on the board BUT if she doesn't you can work on I- Ready, Cash Options, free read, or work on late/missing work.
If Ms. Dean is talking to another teacher, on the phone, or with a student, what should you do?
Wait patiently. Be at a 0-1 voice level. Be respectful.
What should we do with our chair when we leave our desk space?
Push the chair in.
How do we get the teacher's attention?
We raise our hand! I LOVE my last name but I do not want to hear it one billion times a day!
In the event of a fire, what do you do?
We walk out of our classroom, head towards the front doors, and walk to the side of the road across the street. We do this at a 1 voice level, hands to our self, walking. WE ARE AN EXAMPLE.
During work time, what should you be doing?
You should be working on what you are suppose to be! No excuses! In order to grow and learn you need to try. If you are confused, you need to ask. If Ms. Dean or another teacher is busy do your best until you can get help. Do NOT just sit there and do nothing!
What should entering in the morning look like?
- 1/ 2 voice level
- You should make your milk/ lunch choice (hot= 1 or 2 school lunch; cold= lunch from home)
- Unstack your chair and fill in your PAW Binder.
- Get your I-Pad and work on I- Ready or whatever is said on the board.
- If you have lunch money or a note put it in the "NOTES for MS. DEAN" spot
How do I know what I need to turn in everyday?
Look at the Homework Station to see what to HAND IN and what to HOLD ONTO
What are the different voice levels?
0- Silent
1-Whisper to one other person
2- Table Talk-- this is "cafe talk"
3- Talking for the class to hear you
In the event of severe weather, where do we go?
We go into the Student Success Center. This is at a 0 voice level and is to be taken very seriously, even during practice.
How do we ask/ answer a question in class?
We raise our hand!!
What do I do if I need to get a drink?
Hopefully this will be minimal as you are allowed to bring a water bottle to class. If you forgot you can ask by raising your hand (during an independent work time), walk to the water fountain. When you return place the pass back where it belongs.
What happens if Ms. Dean sees, hears, or finds gum (and wrappers) around the room?
We lose having gum privileges.
What should you be doing during a lesson?
1. Eyes on the speaker
2. Voices off (unless you raised your hand and are answering a question)
3. Body is calm
4. Participating- with answers or your body motions
How do we get back into the classroom and who is in charge of opening the door?
We knock on the door at a reasonable volume and wait patiently back from the door. The person seated near the door opens the door. They walk to get it, open it promptly, then sit down.
What type of work should I be handing in?
Your absolute best work! I don't expect you to be perfect but I do expect that you try your best on everything. That means you are showing your work, taking your time, using your best handwriting!
How can you show that you are going to/ in the bathroom in our classroom? When is the appropriate time to go to the bathroom?
You should raise your hand to ask the teacher. You can go during work time or choice time, NOT DURING A TEACHER'S LESSON.
When is it okay to roll your eyes and/or talk back to the teacher? Why?
It is never okay to roll your eyes or talk back to a teacher because it is disrespectful.
What can you do on your I-Pad?
What you are supposed to be doing. You should never be trying to be sneaky, it doesn't work. You'll end up getting a fine and I lock your I-Pad into I-Ready.
Where are creative supplies and how do I use them?
We have Creative Supplies. Please borrow what you need and then return them when you are done. Please be mindful that everyone needs supplies. That means we use them properly, take only what we need, and return things when we can.
