You should not be up wandering the room just for fun. You should have a purpose and it should be at the appropriate times!

How do we sit as a class during Morning Meeting?

In a circle where everyone can be seen. If we cannot see someone, we scoot back to make room - EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME.

What do we do when we line up?

Walk to the line, give the person infront of you space, be at a 0 or 1 voice level. This is in the classroom, in MAPeS, in the lunch room, at recess, any time your in a line!

Do we sharpen pencils during class?

NO!

What do we do if we finish early?

Most of the time Ms. Grovesteen will put it on the board BUT if she doesn't you can work on I- Ready, IXL, Cash Options, free read, or work on late/missing work.

If Ms. Grovesteen is talking to another teacher, on the phone, or with a student, what should you do?

Wait patiently. Be at a 0-1 voice level. Be respectful.

What do our bodies look like during Morning Meeting?

Eyes on speaker.

Legs crossed, mountain, or folded underneath us.

Hands on lap.

Voice at a "0" - silent until it is our turn.

How do we get the teachers attention?

We raise our hand! I LOVE my name, but I do not want to hear it all day long!

In the event of a fire, what do you do?

We walk out of our classroom, head towards the front doors, and walk to the side of the road across the street. We do this at a 0 voice level, hands to our self, walking. WE ARE AN EXAMPLE.

During work time, what should you be doing? 

You should be working on what you are suppose to be! No excuses! In order to grow and learn you need to try. If you are confused, you need to ask. If Ms. Grovesteen or another teacher is busy do your best until you can get help. Do NOT just sit there and do nothing!

What should entering in the morning look like?


- 0 or 1 voice level

- You should make your milk/lunch choice (hot= school lunch; cold= lunch from home)

- Unstack your chair and fill in your PAW Binder.

-Get 2 sharpened pencils

- Get your I-Pad and work on I- Ready or whatever is said on the board. 

- If you have lunch money or a note, put it in the Notes for Ms. G

What do we share about during Morning Meeting?

Any school appropriate topic that is important to us. Examples: what we did over the week, a trip we are looking forward to, losing a pet, etc.

What are the different voice levels?

0- Silent!

1- Whisper- this is "cafe talk" 

2- Table Talk

3- Presentation talking

In the event of severe weather, where do we go?

We go into the library. This is at a 0 voice level and is to be taken very seriously, even during practice.

How do we ask/ answer a question in class?

We raise our hand!!

What do I do if I need to get a drink?

Hopefully this will be minimal as you are allowed to bring a drink into class. If you forgot you can raise your hand to ask and walk to the water fountain.

What happens if we keep talking to the students near us when it is not our turn?

Ms. Grovesteen ends up creating a Morning Meeting seating chart that we must sit in until we earn back choice seating.

What should you be doing during a lesson?

1. Eyes on the speaker

2. Voices off (unless you raised your hand and are answering a question)

3. Body is calm

4. Participating- with answers or your body motions

How do we get back into the classroom and who is in charge of opening the door?

We knock loud enough on the door for people inside to hear. The person seated near the door opens the door. They walk to get it, open it promptly, then sit down.

What type of work should I be handing in?

Your absolute best work! I don't expect you to be perfect but I do expect that you try yopur best on everything. That means you are showing your work, taking your time, using your best handwriting!

How can you show that you are going to/ in the bathroom in our classroom? When is the appropriate time to go to the bathroom? 

You show the one symbol and get a thumbs up from Ms. Grovesteen. Select the girls or boys bathroom light and turn it off when you return. You can go during work time or choice time, NOT DURING A TEACHERS LESSON.

What can you do on your I-Pad?

What you are supposed to be doing. You should never be trying to be sneaky, it doesn't work. You'll end up getting a fine and I lock your I-Pad into I-Ready.

Where are supplies and how do I use them?

We work off of community supplies. They are in the back of the room in the black cart. Please take what you need and then return them when you are done. Please be mindful that everyone needs supplies. That means we use them properly, take only what we need, and return things when we can.
