Clean, no trash or water on the floor.

Carpet

Quiet

When a story is being read or we are watching a video or movie.

Should you sit next to your best friend in the class on the carpet? Why or why not?

No because then you will be tempted to talk to them and the expectation is that you are paying attention while on the carpet.

Someone ended up sitting very close to you on the carpet and you do not feel safe or comfortable. How could you fix this situation?

Politely ask them to give you a little more personal space. You could also move yourself in order to get that space.

Independent Work Time

Quiet. Or if you need to ask a question you can put your hand up.

Where should your eyes be during independent work time?

On your own work.

Why is it important to follow the expectations during independent work time?

So everyone has the opportunity to learn.

Your pencil breaks while you are working. What should you do first? If that doesn't work, what may you then do to fix it?

First, check to see if there is another pencil. If not, then you may sharpen the broken one. If you need more help, put up your hand and ask Michael, Jake, Sarah or Steph for help.

You notice your friend sitting next to you has a real interesting book in their book box and you would like to look at it. What should you do?

Continue doing your own independent reading/work and wait until this time is over to politely ask them if you could take a look at it sometime.

Lunchtime

What voice level is expected at lunchtime?

Normal talking level.

If you need to use the bathroom during breakfast or lunch, what should you do?

Ask your teacher if it is ok for you to do so.

If you have extra milk, water or juice, where should you throw it away?

Pour it out in the bucket next to the trash and then throw the EMPTY container away.

What should you do if you notice garbage still left on our table that is not yours?

Be a good friend and help clean it up. We are all responsible for making sure our space is clean.

Why is it important to eat breakfast and lunch?

Food gives your body the nutrition you need in order to be the best learner you can be!
