Morning Procedures
When I come in the morning, I should.....
sanitize, set up my chair, say good morning to my teacher and friends, eat my breakfast, and look and see if there is a morning message.
You did not bring a snack. What should you do?
Check for the fruit/ veggies. Try a no thank you bite. If you like it, enjoy that for snack. If you do not, you may ask for Animal Crackers. But it needs to happen before Miss Vera works with another student.
What are you expected to do before going outside?
Put on your jacket, line up, identify who the grown up is and ask for permission to go outside.
The first thing you should do when you are working on a worksheet is
PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR PAGE!
Model what it looks like to "come to the rug" the right way.

You hear the phone ringing but Miss Vera is in the hallway talking to someone. What should you do?
Step into the hall and say "excuse me Miss Vera, the phone is ringing"

Ask 3 students to remind you what you are to do BEFORE you ask Miss Vera. She should not repeat the directions because you are not ready.

You think someone at another table is talking about you because they are whispering. What should you do?
Ignore it. They probably aren't talking about you. But, if they are, they're being mean and don't deserve your attention.
It's indoor recess and the teacher said it is time to clean up. You just started playing with play dough and want to finish the thing you are making before you clean up. What do you do?
You go to the bathroom and see two kids pushing one another and saying bad words. What should you do?
Leave the bathroom immediately and tell the nearest grownup you see. Ask the teacher if you can go to the other bathroom so that you do not get involved.

Two kids were being mean saying you cannot play with them because you aren't wearing purple like them. You stay upset all afternoon about it and finally tell Miss Vera at the end of the day. What would Miss Vera say?
You should have talked to the teacher who was on recess duty because now you wasted your whole afternoon being upset about this when the teacher could have fixed it in that moment.
It is time to go on the computer. Your friends have been looking up pictures on google and you really want to change your background to match your favorite movie. You should....

Miss Vera says it is time to turn and talk with your neighbor. Why is turn and talk important? What are you expected to do?
Turn and talk is important because it gives everyone a chance to share and a chance to listen. You are expected to share your thinking and to actively listen to your partner. You should join someone else if your partner is absent.
