No, you sit and listen while the other person tries to explain why they are upset. They should be using I language...(I feel angry when you call me names, I feel upset when you make fun of me in front of people.) Once they are done talking and stating thier feelings and thier side of the event, you then can explain your side. There is give and take in solving a problem. You both have to take in what the other is saying and you both have to give your time and listen to each other.

What is Cyberbullying? What are the consequences of this type of behavior?
Cyberbullying is the newest form of bullying. This is where people state negative things about another person on a social network (my space) to text messaging someone threatens or states horrible verbally abusive messages. Electronic media (cell phones, computers) let bullies operate anywhere and at any time. Since there is no face to face contact, this seems to make the bully think that they are not hurting anyone. But we all know that this is not true. This form of bullying is one of the worst because you reach so many people all at once, which causes more problems for the target of the bullying to have to clean up and to deal with the public humiliation.

Why don't more students report bullying (mental, physical or cyber)?
Many students are afraid of what can happen to them for telling an adult. They may fear the bully so much that they fear for thier life. With Cyberbullying, they are afraid to tell because they think that their cell phone or computer privileges will be taken away. But nobody should EVER ALLOW a bully to run thier life. They should report it as soon as possible. A bully only has power if you let them have power.

How can you stop yourself from being disrespectful when you are in a bad situation?
You can calmly ask if you can take some space in order to chill out. It is important that you take responsibility for your actions, by asking for space to chill, you are doing just that. You are being responsible and taking care of yourself and calming yourself so you can approach the situation, talking over the issue once you are in a calmer state. This way the respect stays intact and you receive good consequences.
