A member has been the target of ongoing bullying, including name-calling and exclusion from group activities, leading to emotional distress.
Response: (Level 2)
Take immediate action by meeting with the bullied member to listen and validate their feelings. Investigate the situation thoroughly by speaking to witnesses and the alleged bully. Implement anti-bullying policies, providing support and counseling for the victim, and educate the bully about the impact of their actions, followed by consequences as per policy.
Scenario: (Behavior Level?)
Two members disagree over the rules of a board game and begin arguing, raising their voices at each other.
Response: (Level 0)
Intervene by saying, “Let’s take a break and discuss this calmly.” Facilitate a conversation where each member can explain their viewpoint. Encourage them to refer to the rulebook if available and help them find a resolution. Afterward, remind them about the importance of sportsmanship and effective communication.
Scenario: (Behavior Level?)
A member expresses frustration during a competitive game using profanity.
Response: (Level 1)
Address the behavior right away by saying, “I understand you’re frustrated, but let’s try to keep our language appropriate for everyone here.” Later, discuss with the member about better ways to express emotions and encourage them to use “I feel” statements when upset.

Scenario: Two members get into a heated argument that escalates into a physical fight, pushing each other and throwing items.
Response: (Level 2)
Quickly separate the members to ensure safety. (Only CPI staff can do this!!)
After everyone is calm, have each member separately write down the context of the fight. Explain the seriousness of their actions and discuss conflict resolution strategies. Send to office do not pass go do not collect $200.
Scenario: (Behavior Level?)
During a group discussion, a member begins to talk loudly and make jokes, disrupting the flow of the conversation. Other members are visibly annoyed and trying to concentrate.
Response: (Level 0)
Approach the member and say, “I appreciate your enthusiasm, but we need to keep our voices down so everyone can participate. Let’s save the jokes for later!” After the activity, reinforce the importance of respecting others’ speaking turns and provide guidance on appropriate times for humor.
Scenario: (Behavior Level?)
A member threatens another with physical harm during a heated argument, saying they’ll “shoot them.”
Response: (Level 3)
Take the threat seriously and remove the member from the situation immediately (send to office). Report the incident to supervisor and speak with the remaining members about the severity of threats.
