What is Nikayon?
Nikayon occurs every day except Saturday for Benjamin after B'yachad. It is the time of the day when every camper will have an assigned job to do in the cabin to clean the cabin! During cabin prep time tomorrow, you will be able to make a nikayon chart that will allow for all camper roles to shift throughout the session. The cabin that scores the best each week (Carly + amanda judge) will win a special prize!

where should our phones be during the day when we are with out campers?
not in sight!!!! campers notice this. Please, please, please don't be on your phone and please be engaged with the kiddos! If there is a communication thing and you need to get in contact with me + Carly, we are most likely travelling with you as a village, or you can step away to contact us!
What are bunk logs and why are they important?
Bunk logs are done every night at staff meetings, and they help us keep track of how all of the campers are doing and any issues that need to be addressed

What is chug? How might Benjamin campers get to chug if they are assigned to different activities than their other cabin mates and counselors?
Chug is an elective time at camp that runs Sunday through Friday from 11:20-12:20. Each week, campers will get to rank their 1-3 choices for their chug. In Benjamin, we will break off in groups based on where campers are going to ensure every camper has a staff member to walk to chug with!
What is a countoff? Why is it important, and when will we do countoffs with our campers and cabins?
A countoff is when each camper in the cabin is assigned a number for the summer, and before you leave and travel around camp, it is important to do a countoff so that you can ensure all of your campers are accounted for!
What is shmira? How does shmira work?
Counselors will rotate who is on shmira and make a schedule for themselves. For the counselor on shmira, it is their job to remain in the cabin at night so someone is there with the campers!
How do hours off work?
everyday you will get an hour off, and it is important to communicate with your cos when that hour will be so you can ensure coverage!
Where do Amanda + Carly go to school during the year? (two different schools)

What does rest hour look like in Benjamin? What activities might our campers want to engage in during this time and what is important to remember?
Rest hour is not an hour off for staff!!! You are still expected to engage with your campers, whether that be through playing cards, bracelet making, etc., or if your campers just want to rest in the cabin. Ensuring they are all accounted for and supervised during this time!
What are ways you can ensure camper hygiene this summer?
- washing hands before every meal
- ensuring your campers are using their toothpaste, shampoo, and soap, checking bottles!
- being engaged during shower hour and nikayon!!
What is absolutely never allowed to be consumed while working at Capital Camps?
drugs and alcohol!!!
When are benjamin village staff meetings? what happens at these meetings?
every night unless you are on shmi in tsfat! bunk logs, important announcements, shoutouts, fun stories, fun activities, food, more fun yay!!!!

What is cabin time? Name 3 examples of possible cabin times you could do with your campers?
Cabin time is the time of the day right before Benjamin's campers go to bed. Counselors of each cabin get the opportunity to plan a small wind-down activity for campers each night! It is a great way to bond with the cabin and have fun cabin time each day. (Carly + amanda will decide if the 3 examples were acceptable)
How can we best support our campers at meals?
Ensuring they eat enough and find the options they want. making sure you eat too! keeping them quiet when hands are up, washing hands, cleaning after ourselves!
If we want to take pictures with our campers, what should we make sure we do?
Use a camp photographer!!! Never take pictures of your campers with your own device. Always make sure to use the camp photographers so as not to put yourself in jeopardy. And any time you want to post a picture with a camper, it has to have the camp logo in it!
what is teva day? what does it entail from you all?
Teva day will be a fun day full of teva/camput activities where campers will have the option to sleep in a tent in Benjamin that night or in a sleeping bag in their cabin!

What is important to remind your campers of during shower hour? What is a fun cabin time/game you can do with your campers to remind them of shower hour expectations?
It is important to ensure your campers use shampoo and soap when they shower! Be engaged and aware during shower hour, make sure shampoo and soap bottles are becoming emptier throughout the summer! Think of a shower hour order that works best for your cabin! Camper Katie!
What is the chain of command for camper care issues this summer?
When a camper issue arises, attempt to solve it with the tools learned during staff week and with the help of amanda + Carly if needed! Only urgent situations require a yoetzet to be brought in. Every night after you fill out camper forms, we will meet with the yoetzet to go over what camper issues need to be addressed. We want to make sure you understand this and that you feel supported this summer!
What are items that should never be kept in your cabins when you are living with campers?
Food! We have many campers with nut allergies! Medication! All medications must go in your med locker, and this is a very strict policy!
