Growing to be around 5 1/2 feet (about the height of Mr. Tannor) this great ape can be found all around Africa. They are considered one of the smallest types of this animal. They are very intelligent & can even be taught sign language!

This insect won't sting you like other's in it's family of animals. They are gentle, peaceful, and very important in the pollination of our vegetables & fruits! Their nests can have 10,000 inside! And their favorite food is leaves.

The male of this type of bird are bright red & easily spotted here in Indiana. The females however, aren't as colorful. As most male birds are the ones that get to be colorful. It is also illegal in Indiana to harm one of these birds!

This endangered reptile doesn't look like the others in its family. It was recently discovered in 2003. It eats insects with a long, sticky tongue & hops around. However, that is where the similarities stop. It is a goofy looking reptile.

This ocean creature has no brain, & is completely see through. Its body has hundreds of mini singers that come out of its midsection. If the water is dark enough, this animal will light itself up different colors to be threatening.

This type of large mammal may look scary, with a mane like a lions, but it actually only eats berries! They climb trees searching for leaves & vegetation out of reach of animals that can't climb. Instead of hibernating in caves, they build nests up in trees.

This insect will create a cocoon to turn into something different. It is also one of it's only kind to be see-through. Almost like it was made of glass. It uses it's clear skin with orange tipped spikes to ward off predators before it can transform.
JEWEL CATERPILLAR

This bird might be a symbol for death in movies, and a large group of these birds is actually called a murder! These birds are also being trained to pick up cigarette butts in city parks in exchange for bread. They are solid black, and scary looking, but not ravens or vultures.

If medieval dragons were real, this reptile would be one of them. Luckily, they are only a few inches long & can't do much harm to humans. They are kings of camouflage, and will eat anything they can get their teeth on. Other types of this animal are held as pets, and 1 special one even sells car insurance on TV.
DEVIL LEAF GECKO

This 8-legged ocean creature has a venomous bite strong enough that it can kill someone in 15 minutes. The blue rings on it's body is a clear sign to get away as quickly as possible. The venom comes from its suction cups, not the beak.
SOUTHERN BLUE-RINGED OCTOPUS

This animal can't attack, it's claws and teeth aren't big enough. However, it has quills on it's back that can be over a foot long EACH! If a predator tries to attack this animals backside they will be stuck with 10's of quills dug deep into their skin.

These types of animals are very mean and aggressive, they want to sting you (unlike bees who want to be left alone). This animal gets its name because of how powerful a female's venom is, as it is strong enough to kill a cow.

This thing is ugly. It's wingspan reaches over 8 feet long! It uses is huge mouth to pick up scraps in the water where it lives to eat. It has hollow bones that allow it to fly & sit on water. Some even say this type of animal might bring home a baby brother or sister to your doorstep.

This type of reptile is amazing looking. Everything about it makes it look like something out of a movie. It has armor plates all over it's body & will even roll itself up like an armadillo to protect itself. It uses its spikes on their armor as a way of attacking as well.

This animal is a bottom feeder, eating whatever scraps fall to the ocean floor. If you cut off one of its many legs it will grow it back like nothing happened. With no brain, this creature just moves on impules

A species of big cat that is found in East Asian forests, this animal has an appearance of a house cat. However, they are much more dangerous. They mostly eat different types of monkeys that they can catch.

A caterpillar can become this type of insect. It is fuzzy, covered in tiny little hairs, & isn't a butterfly. This particular animal is harmless, but some of these have a bite that is painful!
VENEZUELAN POODLE MOTH

A species of bird that can be trained to talk back to you. Bright & colorful, it's body has; blue, orange, yellow, red, green, & purple. This Australian bird feasts on the bulbs of flowers that it can find.

Don't confuse this with a turtle! This animal is one of the longest lasting animals on the plant, with one surviving reptile being alive since the civil war, 160 years ago. They are slow moving, chunky creatures that eat vegetation. If threatened they will retreat their body pars into a large, dome shaped shell.

This apex predator of the Atlantic Ocean uses its long nose/beak as a weapon. It will spear nearby fish, and when dead, will eat the fish. They can be up to 1300 pounds & 14 feet long. This animal has the bragging rights in saying it can kill sharks, whales, and even humans.
ATLANTIC BLUE MARLIN

One of the most colorful primates, this animal has a nickname of the "Old World _____". They can be up to 3 feet tall, and 45 pounds in weight. They are actually one of the animals that a previous big cat preys on! They are also one of the most social of primates.

This type of insect has a very colorful body, with different markings on it's body & wings to deter predators. The male can fly, but the female cannot. They have incredibly strong mandibles (forearms) that can strangle other insects, even sometimes mice. Some would say this animal should prey after killing animals.

This bird doesn't even look real. This African bird has a call that sounds like an animal growling, instead of a usual bird chirp. This animal even eats bats! Not insects, bats. They are also nocturnal, which explains why their eyes are so big & completely black.
THE GREAT POTOO

This animal is like a modified armadillo. It is being hunted to near extinction because people want to wear it's scales as jewelry. They eat ants, termites, and larvae. This animal will also curl itself into a tight ball if it feels threatened.

A very endangered species, with only 92 left in the entire world. Imagine there only being 92 humans left. This sea mammal has a goofy looking round head, with around 30 teeth total. This type of sea mammal is considered to be the smartest in the water, with intelligence that comes close to humans.
