Staff should regularly move around the room instead of supervising from one spot.

Instead of giving several instructions at once, staff should do this.

Buttons, string, beads, boxes, rocks, and sticks are examples of these materials
What are loose parts?
Working effectively with others develops this Triple Play skill.
What is teamwork?
Yoga, meditation, gardening, and healthy cooking projects support this programming area.
What is Healthy Lifestyles?
Before beginning a Triple Play activity, staff should inspect the space and this.
What is the equipment?
Giving a struggling child a classroom job can help them feel successful and do this.
What is redirect their attention or behavior?
Loose Parts help children develop creativity, confidence, decision-making, and this important skill.
What is problem-solving?
Waiting before reacting and choosing a healthy response develops these skills.
What are impulse control and stress management?
This target area teaches members how to make good choices and positively contribute to their community.
What is Character and Citizenship?
Before teaching a new game, staff should review it several times and do this with coworkers.
What is a practice run?
If strategies are not working, staff should speak with the parent and create this.
What is an individualized plan to help the child succeed?
Staff may model or suggest possibilities, but should avoid doing this.
What is telling children exactly what to create or do?
Continuing to try when something is difficult develops these two qualities.
What are perseverance and self-efficacy?
Name three ways an afterschool program can benefit children.
What are improved academic performance, higher self-esteem, healthier social-emotional skills, better communication, healthier eating habits, more friendships, or enjoyable learning?
Researching activities, reviewing lesson plans, creating examples, preparing supplies, and completing stat sheets are all part of this.
