Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
How did Abraham combine faith with works according to the lesson?
Hebrews 11:8 - By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed, and went out, not knowing whither he went.
Abraham was called, and then he obeyed.

Just as faith apart from obedience will not result in salvation, our walk with God after the new birth is equally dependent upon the marriage of faith and works.
How did God challenge Abraham's faith?

Take now thy Son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest...and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of
John the Baptist
Luke 7:19 - And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou h that should come? Or look we for another?
Our new birth is not complete without
Spirit baptism (pg. 400).
Acts 2:38 - (1) Repent, (2) Be baptized in Jesus Name, (3) Shall be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.
John 3:5 - Except a man be BORN of (1) Water "baptism" and (2) Spirit "Holy Ghost", he cannot see the kingdom of God.
What releases the power of God?
Faith combined with works - (pg. 399)
II Thessalonians 1:8 - In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
I Peter 4:17 - For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
Without this, Faith is dead being alone.
Works
James 2:17- Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
How many years did Abraham wait for his promised son, Isaac, to be miraculously born?
25 years
Genesis 12:4 says Abraham (Abram) was 75 years old when God made the promise to make him a great nation. Genesis 21:5 says Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.
He stood up and answered the question, "men and brethren what must we do to be saved?
Peter
Acts 2:37-38 - Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
What is the undeniable sign that God gives to confirm we have been filled with His Spirit?
Evidence of Speaking in Tongues
Acts 2:3-4 - Cloven tongues like as of fire sat upon each of them - and they were filled with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 10:44-46 - While the Word was preached, the Holy Ghost fell - the circumcised acknowledged the Gentiles had received the Holy Ghost also, "for they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
How do you bring forth therefore, fruit worthy of repentance?
Doing the work of turning from sin - repentance is how we obey the death of Jesus (pg. 399).
Luke 3:8 - Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance....
Luke 3:9 - ....Every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
John 8:11 - She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
According to James, what is an unprofitable response/action if we see a brother or sister who is naked and destitute of daily food?
Tell them to depart in peace and be warmed and filled without providing them with the things needed for the body.
James 2:15-16 - If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body, what doth it profit?
According to the Sunday School Book, what are the possible reasons Abraham was willing to obey God and offer up Isaac as a sacrifice?
(1) Abraham loved the promise keeper (God) more than he loved the promise (Isaac) - pg. 401
(2) Abraham believed because God made him a promise concerning Isaac (all nations will be blessed through Isaac), "God was able to raise him, even from the dead." - pg. 402 - Hebrews 11:9.
Alongside her husband, she was also inducted into God's Hall of Faith

Hebrews 11:11 - Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
