What did Jesus do when he saw that? B. Obviously Jesus didn’t think they should sell animals and exchange money in the temple courts. Please try to explain in your own words why that was inappropriate.
A. He drove them out. B. Answers can vary. Example, “The temple court should have been a place of prayer and meditation, not a place for doing business.”

Since God commanded the Israelites to circumcise a child the 8th day and that day could fall on a Sabbath, so the Jews allowed circumcision on Sabbath but they prohibited healing a sick person on that same day. In verse 23 and 24 Jesus was basically asking, “If circumcision is allowed, how could healing not be allowed? Which one is more important?” B. Answers can vary. Example, “They had a narrow mind and a wicked heart.” “They only saw the letter of the law but not the spirit of the law.” “They prosecuted people for breaking their rules even though they were doing merciful work helping others.”

Today, we read that some people believed in him because of the second. Which verse shows the people believed in him because of his words? Verse (?).

The Bible contains many difficult passages. Here we are reading some of them. Jesus repeatedly said people had to eat his flesh and drink his blood in order to have life. How can that be? Those words were metaphorical – meaning not to be understood literally. Eating his fresh refers to recognizing he died for us on the cross; and drinking his blood refers to accepting him as our source of life. Now that you know it, challenge yourself: Try your best, perhaps with the help from parents and teachers, to rephrase verse 54 with simple words so that its basic meaning can be understood by your peers.
Answers can vary. Example, “Whoever accepts that Jesus died for us and became our source of life will have eternal life.” “Whoever accepts Jesus will have eternal life.”
