What is Biodiversity and What are it's levels?
Variety of life in the world. It has three levels:
-Genetic
-Species
-Ecosystem
What is a vascular tissue and its use?
Contains xylem and phloem and is used to transport sugars and other solutes around the plant.
What happens in the interphase phase?
Before a cell can divide, it undergoes a period of rapid growth, DNA replication, and organelle production.
5 times the points if you answer this question:
The world’s marine ecosystem provides humans with a rich supply of high quality foods. Unfortunately, this supply of food has been adversely affected by a number of factors over the years.
(a) Identify one way in which supplies of marine foods have been affected.
(b) Discuss a potential solution.
a)
One way in which supplies of marine food have been affected is that there have been less fish due to pollution of waters, climate change, wetland removal, and overfishing. This is dangerous since it causes the death of many species. And pollution of waters can contain runoff fertilizer, pesticides which can affect the supply of marine foods since they will get contaminated and can affect humans health and cause the other marine food to die.
b)
Of course there are many solutions to resolve the issue. A potential solution is to lessen the use of carbon dioxide, using wetlands, and to stop overfishing. This can help reduce the amount of marine food dying, and have less of an impact on biodiversity. In addition, there will be less runoff chemicals in the ocean.
I am used to determine when something like an event is likely to happen. What am I?
Probability
What are nutrients? List 3 types of nutrients in food?
They are the chemicals in the food you eat that help your body perform all of its functions.
- Carbohydrates
- Proteins
- Fats
What is gene flow?
Physical movement of alleles out of a population or sharing of genes through interbreeding.
What is a prokaryotic cell?
This type of cell contains no membrane-bound organelles, including no nucleus. All unicellular organisms are this kind.
Identify it is mitosis/meiosis. Then determine which phase it is.

Metaphase 2, meiosis 2
Mimicry
The Hardy-Weinberg principle and its equations predict that frequencies of alleles and genotypes remain constant from generation to generation in populations that are not evolving. What five conditions does this prediction assume to be true about such a population?
1. Random mating
2. Large population
3. No movement in or out of the population
4. No mutations
5. No natural selection
Explain the genetic mutation?
It is when a base is changed in the DNA sequence which alters the amino acid produced, which can alter the protein produced.. which can ultimately create a new gene
What are the similarities and differences between mitosis and meiosis?

What does ABA stand for? In simple words, what does it do?
Abscisic acid, regulates dormancy in plants.
I am the universal donor, and I am very kind and generous to save other people's lives, but no one can donate to me or else I die. What am I?
O blood type
What is Biotechnology? Provide an example and explain it's importance.
Biotechnology is the use of organisms to make beneficial products. For example, microorganisms are used to create antibiotics, medications, vaccines, food products, and enzymes. A great number of biotechnology today makes use of our ability to analyze and manipulate genomes at the molecular level making it easy to create supplies.
Unicellular organisms use mitosis as a way to _________, whereas multicellular organisms use mitosis to _________.
1.Reproduce
2.Grow and repair tissues.
What is directional selection, and provide an example?
When individuals at one end of the phenotype range, have a higher fitness than individuals in the middle or at the other end of the range. An example is the pesticide resistance.
How has malaria resistance helped people survive the sickle cell disease?
Due to natural selection, and the resistance, nature selected that the individuals with the sickle cell disease will survive.
I am a key used to guide people to identify organisms with which they may not know. What am I?
Dichotomous key
What does the Law of Segregation state? Who found this law?
Mendel discovered this law. It states that two alleles for a trait or gene segregate during the phases of meiosis.
Double the points if you answer this question:
Fungi cannot produce their own food or move to capture food. What adaptations allow fungi to quickly absorb food when they come in contact with a source of nutrients?
Some adaptations that allow fungi to quickly absorb food when they come in contact with a source of nutrients, is that they have mycelium which can help capture the food. In addition, this helps them gain nutrients needed for survival.
What is a cactus and why is it structured so?
A cactus is an angiosperm. Its leaves have transformed into spines and the waxy epidermis is so that it can have as much water contained as possible in its dry environment.
If a man is red-green colour blind what can we conclude, if anything about his mother colour-blindness change percentage?
50%
I am widely used by fruit growers, giving them the opportunity to combine a high quality fruit-bearing stem with a tough and hardy root or to put many varieties of a fruit on one plant. I am that unique. What am I?
Grafting
