Biology
The study of living things
Nitrogen fixing bacteria
Grow in roots of legumes
cereals
Bonus if you can get the 3 main cereal crops
wheat, barley, rye, oats, rice and corn
(3 main -> wheat, rice, and corn)
the importance of plants
very important because all food comes either directly or indirectly from plants
Why is the nitrogen cycle important
Anything that is alive needs nitrogen to stay alive
Organism
Living things
Denitrifying bacteria
Convert unused nitrates back into atmospheric nitrogen
Forage grasses
used for livestock
how land plants may be grouped according to the size and type of the stem
They have either soft or woody stems, and their textures as well
(i did not know what to put here)
what are 4 differences between monocots and dicots?
Monocots have 1 cotydelon, and dicots have 2. Monocots have parallel veins, and dicots have branching veins. Monocot petals are in multiples of 3, and dicot petals are in multiples of 4 or 5. Monocots have a fibrous root system, while dicots have a taproot system.
Habitat
Regions where particular organisms normally live
Nitrifying Bacteria
Provide nitrates to soil from decomposing plants and animals
Turf grasses
Used for covering lawns/athletic fields/ golf courses/ playgrounds
the two main kinds of root systems
fibrous and taproot
What is the difference between deciduous trees and evergreen trees?
Deciduous trees lose their leaves during winter, but evergreen trees do not
Botany
The Study of plants
Dicot
angiosperm, 2 catyledons per seed
Stolon
A creeping stem that grows above the ground
the difference between annuals, biennials, and perennials
annuals live for one year/growing period
biennials live for two years/growing seasons
perennials live forever
do you like shrek
yes
Zoology
the study of animals
Monocot
angiosperm, 1 cotyledon per seed
Sheath
Something that seems to wrap partially around the stem at the base of the leaf
what's your favorite color
Any color besides green
