How is digestion and photosynthesis similar?

Both photosynthesis and digestion are the way in which plants and humans can receive carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

Photosynthesis creates energy rich molecules while digestion is breaking down complex food into biomolecules like carbohydrates, fats, proteins and amino acids.

100

What is the process of digestion?

Digestion breaks down the food we eat and turns them into biomolecules in our body.

100

What is the purpose of cellular respiration?

The purpose of cellular respiration is for energy and be able to breathe

100

What is the purpose of biosynthesis?

The purpose of biosynthesis to create complex molecule to be able to give us enrgy andp perform vital functions in our body.

100

What provides light and energy that is necessary for plants to photosynthesize?

What is sun?

200

What are the differences photosynthesis and digestion have?

Photosynthesis and digestion are different because they go through a different process to get the carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Photosynthesis creates them while digestion is breaking down complex food to get them.

200

What are the 4 biomolecules our food gets broken down into after digestion?

What is carbohydrates, proteins, fats and amino acids

200

Is cellular respiration an uphill or downhill reaction? Why?

Cellular respiration is a downhill reaction

why:  It uses little energy for our bodies to produce oxygen and make glucose. Then the energy is released making it a downward slope, then gives an output of carbon dioxide and water.

200

True or false: Do plants absorb carbon dioxide through the roots of a plant?

FALSE: plants absorb carbon dioxide through the leaves.
200

What are the inputs and outputs of Photosynthesis?

Input: carbon dioxide and water

Output: glucose and oxygen

300

How are the inputs and outputs of cellular respiration and photosynthesis different

photosynthesis:

input - water and carbon dioxide : output- glucose and oxygen

cellular respiration:

input- glucose and oxygen : output- carbon dioxide and water

300

What helps to chew and swallow food in our mouths?

Saliva

300

What are the inputs and outputs of cellular respiration?

Inputs: glucose and oxygen

Outputs: carbon dioxide and water

300

Is building proteins an uphill or downhill reaction? Why?

Building protein is an uphill reaction because there are numerous steps in creating proteins.

300

What does photosynthesis produce in our atmosphere? Which is an extremely important chemical process for life on earth.

Photosynthesis produces oxygen in our atmosphere

400

How is it possible for plants to have complex carbohydrates, fats and proteins without going through digestion?

It is possible for plants to have complex carbohydrates, fats and proteins because instead of digestion, they go through photosynthesis.

400

Where does most of the digestive process take place?

Most of the digestive process takes place in the small intestine.

400

What is needed to happen for burning to happen in cellular respiration?

The glucose and oxygen need to meet in the bloodstream in order for burning to happen.

400

How does biosynthesis play a role in photosynthesis?

During biosynthesis, macro-molecules become complex carbs and proteins. They rebuild to form a specific protein for the plants.

400

What is the pigment that captures sunlight for photosynthesis.

Chlorophyll

500

What is the difference in they way plants and animals go through cellular respiration?

Humans go through cellular respiration when the glucose and oxygen meet in the blood vessels. Meanwhile for plants, glucose and carbon dioxide meet to start cellular respiration.

500

What happens to our atoms during digestion?

Our atoms begin to rearrange based on our bodies needs.

500

Explain how we get cellular respiration. What happens?

When we put a starch into our body from the food we eat, it digests to carbohydrates. Then it goes through the process of biosynthesis and becomes glucose. This is when the cellular respiration happens when the glucose and oxygen meet in the blood vessels. It then burns and does the process of cellular respiration and gives out carbon dioxide and water. This process gives us energy and gives us air to breathe.

500

In biosynthesis, what happens to the amino acids after being separated through digestion.

In biosynthesis, the amino acids get linked back together and form into any protein that the body needs (body proteins).

500

How does photosynthesis and cellular respiration go hand and hand with each other?

Both processes are essential for life on earth. Without photosynthesis we would not be able to get the oxygen we need to breathe and to be able to do cellular respiration. And without cellular respiration, we wont be able to produce carbon dioxide which is needed for photosynthesis to happen.
