How many parent/s is needed in ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION?

Only 1 parent

5

What are the 3 types of Asexual reproduction?

1.Binary fission
2. Budding
3. Fragmentation

5

What do we call animals that lays egg?

Oviparous

5

Give example of organism that can undergo metamorphosis.

butterfly, frogs, mosquito, beetles, flies etc.

5

What type of reproduction requires 2 parents to produced an offspring?

sexual reproduction

5

Give an example of an organism that can undergo fragmentation reproduction.

starfish, flatworms & sponges etc.

5

Give 3 examples of Viviparous organism.

dog, cat, humans, cows etc.

5

What do we call the life cycle of an organism that undergoes multiple stages were they can add and loss body parts.

Metamorphosis

10

Describe the difference in offspring of asexual and sexual reproduction.

The offspring in sexual reproduction is not identical to the parent but resembles. The offspring in asexual reproduction is identical to parent.

10

What is the difference in asexual reproduction of a bacteria and hydra?

bacteria undergo binary fission while hydra undergo budding

10

Give 1 difference between oviparous and viviparous organism.

Oviparous lays eggs and offspring develops outside the parent's womb. Viviparous offspring are born-alive and they develop inside the mother's womb.

10

What is the difference in the life cycle of frogs and mosquito?

A mosquito have 4 life stages while frogs have 5 life stages.

10

When does the paramecium undergo asexual reproduction?

When the organism gets enough food and the condition is favorable for growth.

10

Give at least 1 difference between binary fission and budding

Binary fission is when the single-celled organism like paramecium divides into two or more daughter cells. Budding is  method were the parent produced a bud-like projection that detached from the parent and grows.

10

How do viviparous organism care for  their newborns?

Viviparous parents care for their young ones by keeping them warm, protection as they become independent, and feed their young ones.

10

How are mosquito larva different from adult mosquito?

A larva lives in water and feeds on microorganism while an adult mosquito lives on land with more body parts and feed on blood.

20

Why is the offspring produced in Sexual reproduction is not exactly the same as either parent?

It is because the offspring in Sexual reproduction is a combination of both characteristics of parents. Half from the mother and another half from the father.

20

Give 2 advantages of asexual reproduction in organisms.

1. The produced faster
2. More energy and time is conserved since it doesn't require a mate/partner.

20

How are frogs and birds different in the way reproduce by laying eggs?

1. The fertilization of frog's eggs happen outside in water while for the birds, the fertilization happens inside of the parent.

2. Frog's eggs are soft it requires moist and wet environment while bird's egg is calcified with hard shells.

20

Why is the change from gill-breathing to lung- breathing an important change in the life cycle of frogs?

Frogs are amphibians that lives on water in their early stage and on land in older age.
