Red Blood Cells
Fact or cap? White blood cells are shaped like flattened disks and carry hemoglobin proteins.
CAP!
What Are the Types of Blood Cells?
Red Blood Cells & White Blood Cells
Name the three main blood vessels
Arteries, veins, and capillaries
What do Red Blood Cells do?
Red blood cells carry oxygen and carbon dioxide around our body
White Blood Cells
Fact or cap? Blood contains fewer white blood cells than red blood cells, BUT the body can increase WBC production to fight infections
FACT!
Which body organ helps blood travel throughout the body?
The heart!
What is hemoglobin?
A protein that carries oxygen
What do white blood cells do? List 2 examples that we discussed!
White blood cells help fight infections and heal wounds.
Examples: Fight germs and make antibodies

FACT!
What percentage does plasma make of whole blood?
54%
What is a transfusion?
A transfusion is giving a person blood from someone else to increase blood cells and special proteins
What are the functions of each blood vessel? (Arteries, veins, capillaries)
Arteries: Carry blood with oxygen from the heart to the body
Veins: Carry blood with carbon dioxide from the body to the heart
Capillaries: Have thin walls so gases and materials can pass through easily
Hemoglobin
Fact or cap? The difference between arteries and veins is that arteries carry blood from the heart TO the body, whereas veins carry blood from the body TO the heart.
