In the stomach, food is broken down in a liquid by mixing it with acid and digestive enzymes, sends the liquid to the small intestine where nutrients are absorbed. Anything not absorbed, is sent to the large intestine. In the large intestine, water and minerals leave and waste is left behind, which is when you go to the bathroom
