Indigenous peopleās shift from hunting and gathering to cultivating basic food crops.
Seasoning
The process by which newly arrived Africans were broken into slavery in the Americas. Often forced to stay in factories for a long time to break their spirit, forced to convert religion.
Articles of Confederation
The first US government framework. It didn't work out, and was replaced by the constitution, due to having such a small amount of national power compared to individual power.
Enumerated goods
The goods that Britain only allowed American Colonies to export to them and nobody else, due to their essential or valuable nature. Rice, tobacco, cotton, indigo, etc.
Creoles vs New Africans
There were three categories of slaves;
1. Creole- Slaves of African descent, born in America.
2. Old African- Born in Africa, but lived in America for a long time.
3. New African- Born in Africa, new to America.
Yeomen
Small farmers who worked their own land without owning slaves (more common in New England and Middle colonies).
