CHAPTER 1
John's testimony concerning the Word of Life in the first few verses of this chapter was established by these three things.
What is, having heard, seen/looked upon, and touched Him?
This chapter opens telling us Jesus acts in these 2 ways on our behalf.
What is as an advocate and propitiation?
In the beginning of chapter 3 we are told those born of God are called this by the Father.
What is children of God?
Chapter 4 opens with a discussion about spirits, or false prophets. This is what we are told to do concerning them - and this is what they must confess.
What is to TEST the spirit - he must confess Jesus Christ has come in the flesh?
John opens chapter 5 saying everyone who believes Jesus is the Christ has been what?
What is Born of God?
In this chapter it says "God is _____".
What is Light?
This chapter speaks of our actions of hating our brother, or loving our brother, resulting in "walking in" these places.
What is the light or the darkness?
This activity tells us if one is a child of God or a child of the devil.
What is practicing sin or practicing righteousness?
In chapter one we were told that "God is Light", here in chapter 4 we are told that "God is ________".
What is Love?
These are the 3 birthmarks of one Born of God. (After one has been born of God - he must exhibit these 3 things.)
What is they believe (Jesus is the Christ), obey (His commandments), and love (those born of God)?
To be forgiven for sin, we are told to do this.
What is to confess them?
John warns us - "Do not love the world...", If one does THIS is not in him.
What is the love of the Father?
John describes sin as this.
What is lawlessness?
Perfect love does this in the life of one who confesses that Jesus is the Son of God. vs 18
What is casts out fear?
These are the 3 witnesses John spoke of that testify to Jesus being the Son of God. vs. 5-12
Who is the Spirit, the water and the blood?
This is the reason John says he is testifying of Jesus.
What is to complete his joy?
This chapter we see the first use of the word LOVE. "Love of God". We know this greek word is agape. These three words help us to define it.
What is self-less, sacrificial, unconditional, unearned, unrestricted, unrestrained, an action (any 3 is acceptable)?
This Old Testament character was used as an example of one who did not love his brother. (3:12)
Who is Cain?
At the end of this chapter John says one is a liar if he says THIS, but does THIS.
What is, says he loves God, but hates his brother?
Those born of God are always heard by God when they ask something of Him. They know they have the requests they have brought if they have asked in this way. vs. 14-15
What is according to His will?
