Named after his ancestor, this son of Helaman was a Nephite missionary. He and his elder brother Nephi first taught the Nephites with great success and then taught the Lamanites and Nephite dissenters in the land of Zarahemla. Helped convert 8,000 Lamanites, but was later cast into prison. When the Lamanites came to slay them, they were encircled by a pillar of fire.

A Nephite missionary, the third son of Alma the Younger. This missionary went with his older brother Shiblon and his father Alma, and five others on a proselytizing mission to the Zoramites in Antionum, while his eldest brother Helaman stayed behind. The group witnessed the peculiar worship of the Zoramites, including their prayers upon the Rameumptom.

When the Nephites were commanded to leave their historic homeland of Lehi-Nephi to flee from the Lamanites, the exiled remnants discovered the city of Zarahemla, to their north, which was inhabited by this group. The Nephites settled among this group and eventually adopted the Nephites' language and religion, and the two peoples formed one nation by establishing Zarahemla as their new capital and naming Mosiah as their king.
