100
The minimum number of trump you and your partner together should have to play the hand in that suit.
What is eight?
100
Your partner bids 1 spade. You have two small spades, and only 6 points. Your bid?
What is 1 NT? If you have six points, you must respond. One NT is a weak response telling your partner you have 6-9 points with weak trump support. Your partner may pass this bid.
100
Any jump by the responder forces you to what?
What is Go to GAME?
100
What is the number of points that you should have between you and your partner to bid game in NT (3), Hearts(4), or Spades(4)?
What is 26 points? You should have 28-29 to go to game in clubs or diamonds (5 tricks over book), and 31-33 to try for slam.
100
The maximum number of high card points you should have for a preemptive bid.
What is 10?
200
You have the following cards: Spades- A Q 7 8, Hearts-K 9 6, Diamonds- A 4 2, and Clubs-J 5 2 You open?
What is clubs? When you have the choice of two three-card minor suits, open a club.
200
Your partner bids one club. You have 9 points with four little spades, four hearts with one honor, two diamonds, and three clubs with two honors. Your bid?
What is one heart? You should not raise your partner's minor suit with only three cards in his opening suit. Since you are still at the one level you can change suits with less than 10 points. With two four cards majors, bid the hearts first.
200
On your rebid as the opening bidder, you may bid any suit with at least how many cards in that suit?
What is four? Any suit of five or more cards is biddable as a rebid, and any four card suit headed by an honor is biddable as a rebid.
200
When the opener makes a minimum rebid, with only 6-9 points, then your second bid should be pass if you like the suit, or you can bid 1Nt, return to partner's first suit or rebid your own suit if you have how many cards or longer?
What is six cards or longer? The responder must determine what is trump and how high to go. The basic rule is that any new suit bid by the partner of the opening bidder forces the opener to bid again.
200
The minimum number of cards in one suit for a preemptive bid.
What is seven? And the suit should contain three of the five honors.
300
You are the opening bidder with 14 points, no five card major, and two four-card minor suits. The clubs have two honors, and the diamonds no honors. Which do you open?
What is diamonds? With two four-card minor suits, open the diamond.
300
Your partner opened one NT. You have a balanced hand and 12 points. What is your response?
What is Jump to 3NT? If you have a balanced hand and fewer than 8 points, pass ; 8-9 points, raise to 2 NT; 10-14 points, jump to 3 NT; 15-16 points, raise to 4NT; 17-20 points, 6 NT; and 21 points, jump to 7 NT.
300
You open with 1 club and your partner responds with 1 heart. You have 13-16 points (as the opening bidder) and four hearts with an honor, by how many may you raise your partner?
What is one? As long as you have four trump or three very good ones. As the opener, you should never jump with less than 17 points.
300
As the responder (not the opener), with 10-12 points, should you bid a second time when the opener makes a weak rebid?
What is Yes, but do not jump.
300
Your partner opens three spades. You have 13 points and two quick tricks. You only have one spade, but have five great hearts. What is your bid?
What is Pass? Do not raise your partners bid unless you can provide four tricks. Also, rarely bid your own suit (unless you have six or seven)....your partner's hand is worthless unless in his long suit is trump.
400
If you have two five card or two six card suits, bid which suit first?
What is the higher ranking suit (as opposed to the one with the higher points)? But always bid a six card suit over a five card suit, unless the five card is a major and the six card minor is weak.
400
Your partner opens with 1 D. You have 18 points with a good six card spade suit. You also have three diamonds with two honors. What is your response?
What is Two Spades? You should jump shift to spades to show your partner your at least four card major, as well as your high point count. A jump shift response will usually result in a slam try.
400
You open one spade with only 13 points and five spades. Your partner responds with 2 hearts. Your have three little hearts, two small diamonds, and three clubs. You want to pass. May you?
What is NO? If your partner changes suits at the two level, she has at least 10 points and you should not pass.
400
When the opener makes a strong rebid, such as a jump shift, and you have 13-16 points, about how many total points do you have between the partnership?
What is 30-33 points? You should try for slam with that many points.
400
Your opponent opens one heart. Your partner responds with Double. What does that tell you?
What is a take-out double? Your partner has at least opening count and he can support any suit you bid except the one he doubled of your opponent. You are required to bid your best suit and may not pass unless your opponent bids after the double.
500
You are the first bidder and have 19 points with even distribution (4S-4H-3D-2C). Your bid?
What is 1 Diamond? You have too many points to bid 1 NT(15-18), and not enough for 2 NT(21-22). You should jump or jump shift at your next bid to show your partner your point count.
500
If you have an unbalanced hand and your partner opens one NT, bid 2 of diamonds, hearts, or spades with at least a five card suit and fewer than how many points?
What is 9 points? Jump to three of your suit if you have 10 or more points and at least a five card major suit or 12 or more points with at least a five card minor suit.
500
You open with one club and your partner responds one spade. You have only two spades, but you have six clubs with two honors and 18 points. What is your rebid?
What is Jump to three clubs? With 17-19 points you should jump in your own suit if you have a good six card suit. Jump in your partner's suit if you have four or more of her suit. This lets your partner know that you have a lot more than 13 points and she can then predict whether you should be at game or slam depending on her hand.
500
Your partner opens 1 NT, and you have 11 points and respond 3 spades. Your partner responds with four spades. Should you try for slam?
What is NO? Your partner has a maximum of 18 points for a total of 29 points, not enough for slam.
500
if your partner opens with one heart and your opponent preempts with three diamonds, bidding a new suit at the three level shows how many points by you?
What is 12-13 points? Raising your partner to three hearts would show at least three trump and 8-11 points.
