Farsightedness

Hyperopia

100

acute systemic vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels) of unknown cause that primarily affects children under 5 years of age. It leads to inflammation in the walls of medium-sized arteries, especially the coronary arteries, and can cause aneurysms.

Kawasaki Disease

100

Sac-like protrusion of meninges and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through a vertebral defect / Spinal cord remains in place / Usually no neurological deficits

Meningocele

100

a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow where abnormal cells accumulate in the bone and interfere with RBC, WBC, and platelets, affecting the myeloid line of blood cells.

ACUTE MYELOGENOUS LEUKEMIA

200

Uneven refractive curvatures, parts of letters on a page can be seen

Astigmatism-

200

chronic inflammatory skin condition. / It is often linked to immune system dysregulation, and is considered a type I hypersensitivity reaction.

ECZEMA

200

Most severe form of spina bifida / Protrusion of spinal cord, meninges, and CSF through a defect / Neurological deficits common: paralysis, incontinence, orthopedic issues / Associated with hydrocephalus and Chiari II malformation

Myelomeningocele

200

any leukemia not of lymphoid origin the most common form is AML

ACUTE NONLYMPHOID LEUKEMIA

300

Different strengths in each eye

Anisometropia

300

White, curd-like plaques in the mouth / Red, sore oral mucosa underneath / May cause feeding difficulties in infants

Thrush

300

Absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp / Incompatible with life.

Anencephaly

300

The initial phase of treatment aimed at rapidly reducing cancer, autoimmune diseases, organ transplantation. (chemotherapy drugs, immunosuppressive drugs imabs, high dose steroids high intensity/ short duration)

INDUCTION THERAPY

400

Lazy Eye

Ambiyopia

400

Intense scalp itching / Presence of nits (white eggs) attached to hair shafts / Redness or sores from scratching / Occipital and postauricular lymphadenopathy (in severe cases)

Lice

  • Prenatal prevention: Folic acid 400–800 mcg/day before conception
  • Monitor for hydrocephalus (bulging fontanels, increased head circumference)
  • Protect sac (if open): Sterile, moist, non-adherent dressing; avoid pressure
  • Pre-op: Prone position, head turned to side
  • Post-op: Assess for infection, neuro status, CSF leakage
  • Long-term: Bowel/bladder training, mobility aids, VP shunt care (if hydrocephalus present)

Nursing Considerations

400

after induction therapy often combing multiple drugs or adjusting dosages ex: diabetes and BP to achieve better control of a disease when induction is insufficient
