How and when do you perform the Heimlich maneuver?

The Heimlich maneuver is used when someone is choking on something and cannot breathe. 

Stand behind the person and make a fist with one hand. Wrap your arms around them and place your other hand around the fist. Then, perform a few abdominal thrusts in an upwards motion until the blockage is dislodged.
