The bully in the poem realizes what she is doing is wrong yet still does it even though she feels bad. Wendell in the novel knows what he is doing is wrong yet does not care that it may hurt others.

The victim in the poem decides to avoid the problem and not stand up for herself, while Marcelo in the novel moves away from Wendell after realizing that Wendell is not really his friend and was using him.

The bystander could be as guilty as the bully because they are not doing anything to help the victim against the bully. The bystander is not as guilty as the bully because the bystander wasn't doing anything to the victim, while the bully was actually harassing the victim.
