What is Thermal Energy?

What is Ionizing Radiation?
1. Form of energy that acts by removing electrons from atoms and molecules of materials that include air, water, and living tissue.
What is Potential Energy?
Stores energy, and has the POTENTIAL to do work. (Example: A guillotine blade pulled up to its highest point)
What is Nuclear Energy?
Energy in the nucleus of an atom.
Examples: We control the release and use of nuclear energy at nuclear powerplants.
What is Mass described by?
Mass is described by its energy.
What is Air Kerma?
Kinetic Energy released when Xray beam passes through air.
Ionizing Radiation can travel...?
Unseen through air, water and living tissue.
What is Kinetic Energy?
Energy in motion. (Examples: the guillotine blade falling, automobiles, a windmill).
What is Electromagnetic Energy?
Least familiar type of energy, but most important to radiology. Energy traveling through space is a combination of electric and magnetic fields.
Examples: radio waves, visible light, x-rays, gamma rays.

1.In general terms yes, but not exactly the same.

The work that can be done when an electron moves, which creates voltage.
Examples:
1. Electricity, electrons moving through copper wire by an electrical potential difference.
