How to treat frost bite 


  • Move them to shelter

  • If its an ear or cheek warm the injury with your palm (if it’s been gloved)

  • If severe put them in dry clothing, wrap the area in a blanket, and get help

  • Do NOT rub a frostbitten limb with your hand or snow(it could refreeze)

  • Instead rewarm the limb by using warm to the touch NOT hot water until normal color returns

  • If on hands or feet put a sterile gauze between fingers or toes and wrap in a sterile bandage

  • Do NOT rewarm by placing them near a heater or fire (this could cause more damage)
