What is one key responsibility of the capstone student?

  1. Identify personal goals, interests and appropriate outcomes as a basis for planning a OTD Entry Level Professional Program capstone project.

  2. Collaborate to develop and plan the OTD project with lead faculty mentor and other faculty as appropriate. 

  3. Synthesize knowledge from didactic coursework and clinical practice to support the development of the capstone project.

  4. Develop and maintain a structure for working with the capstone team to conduct and complete the capstone project. 

  5. Utilize constructive feedback from faculty and mentors for personal and professional growth.

  6. Take responsibility for one’s own skills and professional development (professional writing, IRB, etc.).

  7. Collect, manage and analyze data for capstone projects as proposed. 

  8. Demonstrate a professional approach to the capstone, including demonstrating effective and appropriate professional behaviors such as time management, observing deadlines, initiating and reading communication from the capstone team, providing regular and thorough communication regarding updates/progress with the capstone team.

  9. Be self-directed throughout the capstone process including developing, planning and completing the capstone project. 

  10. Maintaining regular contact with members of capstone team once identified. 

  11. Obtaining and providing a CV (résumé) and mentorship contract to lead faculty mentor and content expert. 

  12. Constructing the individualized specific goals/objectives, evaluation and supervision plan for capstone project in collaboration with capstone team. 

  13. Complete and disseminate a culminating capstone project that meets the expectations and rigor of the OTD Entry Level Professional Program.
