The only arteries that carry deoxygenated blood. They carry blood from the right ventricle to the lungs. TWO WORDS
Pulmonary Arteries
The two lower chambers of the heart. These muscular chambers push the blood out of your heart.
Ventricles
The momentary stretching of arteries caused by the rush of blood forced out of the heart with each beat (contraction)
pulse
The thin wall between the two atria TWO WORDS
Interatrial Septum
A thick, muscular wall between the two ventricles.
Interventricular Septum
The large vein that collects blood from the lower parts of the body. THREE WORDS
inferior vena cava
The thin, smooth tissue that lines the inside of the heart.
Endocardium
A measurement of the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries.
Blood Pressure
Two of the four valves found in the heart. These valves are placed between the atrium and ventricle on each side.
Atrioventricular Valves
A special fibrous sac that holds the heart in place.
Pericardium
The largest artery in the body. It carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to arteries serving the body.
Aorta
The top two chambers of the heart.
Atria
The first number in a person's blood pressure.
Systolic
Doors that open and close are located between each atrium and ventricle and between each ventricle and blood vessel leaving that ventricle.
Valves
Deposits of fatty material that build up inside the blood vessels.
Plaque
Veins that cary oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart.
Pulmonary Veins
Two of the four valves found in the heart. These half-moon shaped valves keep the blood from flowing backwards in the ventricles from the aorta and pulmonary artery when the heart release between beats.
Semilunar Valves
A unique cluster of cells inside the heart that causes the heart to beat on its own.
Pacemaker
The thin, smooth tissue that lines the inside of the heart.
Endocardium
The thick, muscular wall between the two ventricles.
Interventricularseptum
The largest artery in the body. It carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to arteries serving the body.
Aorta
The heart muscle. The thickest layer of the heart.
myocardium
The second number in a person's blood pressure. It indicates the pressure against the arterial walls when the ventricles relax.
Diastolic blood pressure
The two lower chambers of th heart. These muscular chambers push the blood out of your heart.
Ventricles
The top two chambers of the heart.
