Only one parent can be enrolled at a time.

What is one of 2 reasons career link only part time?

*Career link is part time to allow participants needing to earn their High school diploma, HSE, or furthering there education to do so without interfering with a work schedule. 

CLC's help the participants balance their work and school schedules.


*Income will could close out TANF case depending on household composition.

How often will a participant meet with their career link coordinator?

Every week (this can be by site visits, office visits, and phone calls).

Can a 1 person household, women in her 3rd trimester with out any other children, be referred to career link?

No, they can not be referred, due to the career link income closing them out. This is based on the house hold composition.

How many hours are required for both programs?

Career Link 20 Hours; Wage Subsidy 40 Hours.

How many times can a participant be enrolled in Career Link?

A career link participant can only be enrolled once. 


Note:If a participant has closed out on good cause in the past their case may be reviewed with WFSB and must be approved by them and Career Link Program Director for "re-enrollment".

Why is a career link participant required to not have any other income on their case?

This will close out their TANF case for being over the income guidelines.

Once a participant completes their hire paperwork with career link, what is the next step the career link coordinator takes in getting them subsidized employment?

Career Link Coordinator begins scheduling interviews for participant as well as working on interview skills and dress attire.

Is a career link participant required to submit a monthly non-paid time sheet?

Yes and no!

If they are required to complete 129 hours they will need to submit a non-paid time sheet for non-core hours as well as there weekly time sheets. 

If they are required to complete 86 hours they will NOT need to submit a monthly time sheet only their weekly time sheet. 

Note: If an 86 hour parent is going above and beyond, they will be required to submit a time sheet for additional support services.

Career Link 6 months; Wage Subsidiy 12 Months.

What are the steps to refer a participant to career link?

Call Career link office to request appointment; enter referral into TANF Pro with appointment date and time; Appointment notice printed handed to participant with correct career link address. 

Note: If you do call and the line is busy we ask for an email request for appointment, so entire CL team can assist in getting the appointment right away.

Are Career Link Participants Eligible for 2 gas cards a month for transportation barriers?

Career Link participants are eligible for 2 gas cards only if the need is there and: 

*Only for the 1st 3 months they are employed in the career link site. (This 2nd card does come out of their life time limit and a FAP006 will need to be completed).

*An 86 hour parent that is going above and beyond their requirements may also be eligible for a second gas cards if a time sheet is submitted.

No, they can not be referred, due to the career link income exceeding income guidelines.

Once a participant completes either wage subsidy or career link, are they eligible to enroll the other program?

Ex: Wage subsidy participant completed 12 months and is interested in enrolling in career link.

No, once a participant has completed either program they are not eligible to complete the other. 

Wage Subsidy and Career Link are one time programs.

Where and What, should be included in the participants IRP if they are being referred to career link?

That they are interested in the career link program and that this is included in the activity track of the IRP.

86 hour parents they are required 20 hours a week in their employment.

129 hour parents are required 20 hours in their employment and 10 hours of an educational component.

How frequently does career link continue to follow up with a participant once they have left Career Link?

Career Link continues to follow up with participants at 30, 60 and 90 days once they have ended.

Can a participant that does not have 2 forms of ID be referred to Career Link?

Yes, they can be referred, Career link has resources to help them obtain ID's. However there is a time limit on when the need to obtain these by and if they have not, they may be referred back.

What type of employment positions are offered with both programs?

Career Link- Any site that meets the participants career goals. 

Career Link also has the ability to sign sites up with the program if they are not yet signed up. 

Wage Subsidy- State offices in hopes of gaining un-sub employment with the state.

What 5 things are needed to be considered eligible for career link?

No earned or unearned income (including receiving child support)

Must be in good standing with NMW and CSED (no sanctions or re-coupments)

Must have Medicaid

Must have at least 6 months of TANF remaining in their lifetime. 

Must have an active IRP and WPA.

How many hours are required for 2 parent household a WEEK to participate in the career link program? (2 part answer)

2PHH not using child care- Parent enrolled in Career Link are required 20 hours in their employment and 10 hours of an educational component. 2nd parents is required to complete at least 5 hours a week. 

2PHHusing child care- Parent enrolled in Career Link are required 20 hours a week in their employment and 10 hours hours additional core activity. 2nd parents is required to complete at least 20 core hours a week and at least 5 hours a week in non core activity.

Once a career link participant has started the program, how many days does a Career Link Coordinator have to place a participant in a work site?

Career Link has 10 days to place a participant in a work site after they have completed their hire paperwork to meet our process.

Can a participant that is currently in the office correcting their non-compliance or getting sanction lifted, be referred to career link?

Yes, if the participant is in the office fixing their sanction and this was completed within the NOAA and will be lifted, you can refer them to career link. 

Note: Ensure TANF Pro is reflecting the non-compliance has been lifted for reporting purposes.

What program(s) offer support services to participants DURING the time are enrolled?

Career Link offers support services to participants during the time they are enrolled in Career Link. 

Wage Subsidy will not offer support services to their participants once they are enrolled in wage subsidy. However, they can get clothing services prior to the EDG changing in ASPEN.
