*** The team developed a protocol to return patients who had been transferred from other hospitals back more efficiently.
*** The team developed a bed blocking workflow. A committee began reviewing blocked beds on a daily basis to find opportunities to unblock beds that did not need to be blocked (either because the patient was no longer contagious, or because the bed no longer needed repairs, or because the patient no longer had to be isolated for behavioral reasons).
*** The team created a way to prescreen Cardiology transfer patients to determine their eligibility for outpatient workup when it was appropriate.
*** The team also worked with other hospitals in the H+H system to accept a larger share of Cardiology patients.
