Drainage bag kept below the bladder and off the floor, kept form kinking, proper hand hygiene, and changing catheter at least once a month if chronic

Blood in urine, strong odor, pain, chills, and fatigue
Treatment Extras
If not treated, can lead to serious injury of the kidneys and their function and can lead to sepsis.
Education Extras
Important to just communicate with the patient on what the catheter is and why it is being used and to discuss with them how to prevent CAUTI's.
