What is a friendly amendment and how is it handled?

A friendly amendment is one that is in sympathy with the main motion and hopefully improves the chance of the main motion being adopted. It is handled like any other motion once the main motion has been stated by the chair. Before the motion maker can accept the alteration without permission of the assembly.

A motion to postpone a main motion indefinitely is adopted.
