What are the reactants needed for photosynthesis to occur?

light energy, water, carbon dioxide

100

The diffusion of water molecules across a membrane is....

osmosis

100

What is needed in order for active transport to occur?

ATP

100

Describe what happens to a cell placed in an hypertonic solution.

The cell membrane would shrink.

100

Name the stages in order of Mitosis.

Interphase (resting stage) Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase Cytokinesis (splitting)

200

What are the reactants for cell respiration?

glucose and oxygen

200

define diffusion

particles moving from an area of higher concentration to lower concentration.

200

Facilitated requires

a transport protein

200

Describe the movement of water if a cell was placed into a hypotonic solution.

Water would move into the cell

200

what is happening during Metaphase 1 in Meiosis?

Chromosome pairs align in the center

300

Where does photosynthesis take place?

Chloroplast

300

What are your types of diffusion?

Passive,

Facilitated

Osmosis

300

Active transport moves

against the gradient, low to high

300

Describe both the cell shape and water movement if a cell was placed in an isotonic solution

Cell shape would stay the same. The water would flow in and out evenly.

300

What is happening during anaphase in Mitosis

Chromatids are being pulled to opposite sides of the cell.

400

Where does cellular respiration take place?

Mitochondria

400

Diffusion requires...

what is no energy

400

Endocytosis and Exocytosis is an example of...

what is active transport?

400

Explain why a cell shrinks when placed in a hypertonic solution.

The water on the inside of the cell has a higher concentration of free moving water molecules, while the water on the outside has a low concentration of free moving water molecules. The water on the inside of the cell will move from an area of high concentration to low concentration, so the water will leave the cell causing the cell to shrink.

400

Name two differences between Mitosis and Meiosis

Mitosis= 2 daughter cells, identical to parent cell, divides once during the process Meiosis= 4 daughter cells, not identical to parent cell, divides twice during the process

500

Which gas moves from cellular respiration to photosynthesis?

carbon dioxide

500

This molecule needs ATP to pass through the membrane

What is sodium?

500

What happens when a cell is placed in an isotonic solution?

it will stay the same

500

If a cell starts with 20 chromosomes and goes through mitosis how many chromosomes will the daughter cell have?

20
