abdominal cavity
It contains the stomach, small intestine, most of the large intestine, appendix, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen. It is super large, so it is divided into sections.

imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate it into sections

indicates the structures away from the body surface

the body parts away from the midline of the body
pelvic cavity
contains the urinary bladder, reproductive organs, and the last part of the large intestine

buccal cavity
the space that contains the mouth for the teeth and tongue

the location of the extremities in relation to the main trunk of the body

toward the feet
dorsal
body parts on the back of the body
midsagittal plane
divides the body into equal halves
proximal
location of the extremities in relation to the main trunk of the body
bilateral
affects both sides of the body
cranial
toward the head
frontal (coronal) plane
The division of the front and back sections of the body
nasal cavity
for the nose structures
sagittal plane
divides the body into left and right sections.

contains the brain
inferior
the body parts below other parts
orbital cavity
for the eyes
spinal cavity
contains the spinal cord
